Cutting teeth.
Our puppy, 5 month old Molly, is cutting her adult teeth. Her appetite has decreased significantly. Also, what's more worrisome, we discovered a large lump on the left side of her neck yesterday. She has a veterinary appt. scheduled for tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this situation?

That does sound worrisome. I will tell you that Cody's appetite never decreased when cutting teeth. Did anyone elses Corgi on here lose their appetite? Sending well wishes that everything will be okay with Molly at her appointment. Please let us know. |

Chip never lost his appetite even with all the problems he was having. He has never been a heavy eater though. The lump sounds worrisome to me also. Hope everything with Molly is ok. Have you looked inside her mouth? Where are the lumps located? Let us know what the vet says.

No appetite loss with any of mine either. You've done the right thing getting her to the vet as soon as possible Janice. We will hope that it's a minor situation and that Molly will be fine.

Tucker stopped eating around 5-6 months. I think it was just him being picky (ok, I'd fed him chicken, hamburger, a little hot dog every now and then). I played the game with him swithcing food, etc.
Lulu has recently (around 7 months) stopped eating regularly. Again, I think she is being picky. This time I refuse to play the game with her. She has 30 minutes to eat her food or it gets picked up. She doesn't miss too many meals in a row. As for teething, my two are non stop chewers. I too hope Molly's lump is not serious.

The loss of apetite would have nothing to do with 'teething' - but maybe a lot to do with that lump. I would hazard a guess that the lump is non malignant and just a fatty tissue that will need to be removed surgically at some stage otherwise it will continue to grow and annoy your puppy.

It may just be swolln lymph glands - she may just have an infection and need an antibiotic taking in her age. It all depends where the lump is.

I will be anxiously awaiting news of Molly. I hope that it turns out to be nothing. Good job taking her to the vet Janice. I am also a worry wart (like Emilie), and that would be my first instinct.
PS - Jackie lose her appetite? HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA! You can't lose something that big!

Molly's exam
Sincere thanks to all the Corgi forum members who responded to my post regarding Molly's teething and neck lump issues. Your comments and concerns are very much appreciated.
The good news is that Molly's seasoned veterinarian believes she has an enlarged lymph node from her teething gums. He prescribed an antibiotic and expects all to be well within a few days. Of course, we will be vigilant and hope that the miniscule chance of something more seious causing her symptoms will be vanquished by her treatment.
