Colcolt:
I had a problem getting on here last night also. It would take a very long time and then stop. Do you have Charter? I sometimes think that is the problem for me.

What part of Tn are you in ?
I am in Athens, Tn. I have been following this thread but have only had Pem's so I could only advise on the one breed. I only got our first corgi almost 3 yrs ago, but I dont see myself ever living without one. My two are so in tune with my feelings and emtions, they have their hyper frapping moments that last about 30 mintues twice daily. The rest of the time the lay around napping or playing with their toys. They actually sleep a lot during the day. I am so sorry for your loss of Kate, she sounds like such a sweetie, and you a very compassionate dog daddy. You've been given some great advice in this thread. If you want a dog now I say go for it, adopt an adult, you'll make it work. Dogggie doors, x-pens, crates, dog walkers -( I have found a great sitter through our vet's office ). Good Luck to you.

I've got Comcast, Bonnie and it usually is very good with only a couple of problems in the four years I've had it...much better than dial up!
I'm in Knoxville, Darci-just "up the road a piece" from you. I thought about that doggie door last night and the only place I could put one would be on either side of the door that leads from the dining room to the deck. Both areas have a receptacle and wiring in the way as they are less than a foot up from the floor. I wouldn't want to try that! The cable travels horizontally down the wall from one receptacle to the other and neither side would be safe. They tapped off the receptacle to run up to get power to the outside deck light from the wall switch. Yes, great advice to say the least and all of it taken in well.I go to PetSmart about once a week to look around and see other folk's dogs being brought in and try to talk with most of them. I look around at the "doggie beds", Kong toys, crates and other things. My weekly treat, I guess.

ColColt,
The Piedmont Triad is Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point - I'm south of Greensboro. As Cindy said: "If you want a dog now I say go for it, adopt an adult, you'll make it work. Dogggie doors, x-pens, crates, dog walkers -( I have found a great sitter through our vet's office )." A lot is going to depend on the dog you get as to how much or how many options you might need to incorporate, but I really believe you have the desire and will to make it work. It would be good for both of you. Debbie |
