To clarify a bit ... the percentage of forum members who actually have a Breeder to whom they can or could turn to ask about anything are really in the minority here. For that majority, then Go Corgi is a very good resource to ask questions.

For those who do have Breeders, well think why you chose them. Their background in the breed? Their knowledge? Their experience? The resources they have at hand from others in the breed? They were the ones who brought your puppy into the world, lost sleep, worked tirelessly cleaning up messy puppy pens, cuddling, vaccinating, rearing, socializing. They likely whelped the dam of your puppy or at least raised it from puppyhood. They probably own relatives - who is going to know your puppy better? A part of being a Breeder is being there for all and any questions - they have a highly vested interest in that bundle of joy and mischief you brought home. It is a matter of respect and courtesy to turn to them first with questions. Believe or not, Breeders do get offended and feel insulted when their puppy buyers go to some general forum and ask for advice without consulting with them. It is like a slap in the face. For all the wonderful, sound and experienced advice that can be found here, there is also a lot of bad advice and misinformation dispensed as well.

Even in placing rescues, I have and will get upset when someone I've placed a dog with goes to some of the lists and asks questions they should have brought to me. That's why I try hard to get a full picture especially with certain dogs and cases.

It isn't that things shouldn't be discussed here, but one's first resource should be the Breeder of their dog IF there is one there for you.

We never thought about that. She had so many problem the first year we got her. Next time we take her to the vet maybe we should have her checked.
