Lunatics

The word Lunatic is borrowed via French from Latin "lunaticus", which gains its stem from "luna" for moon, which denotes the traditional link made in folklore between madness and the phases of the moon.

Okay, now does anyone else see a marked difference in their dog's behaviour when there is a full or almost full moon?

The past two days it's been like walking drunken sailors on leashes with my two! They are driving me nuts! Tonight should be a real treat as moon will be full.

When Rupe was a pup, he had one of his kindergarten classes on a full moon day. All of us owners spent about 15 minutes trying to get our dogs to do the basic training they were learning - finally the instructor told us to forget it and we let the 15 pups run around like total maniacs for the remaining 45 minutes!

Last night I took the dogs out on the lake around 5:15. We walked around and watched the moon come over the mountain behind my house. With the snow on the ground it was very bright all night. COuld be why Tucker woke me up at 3 and Lulu woke me up at 4:30.

Poor Jackie was having tummy troubles again last night - so she had no energy for hijinks. Hopefully she will be feeling better tonight, and will be raising h*ll with the rest of the "lunatics".

My two, especially Chloe, my Corgi was extremly hyper and excited last night. I get that way myself when there's a full moon, and don't sleep as well at night.

I worked in an insurance company as a claim examiner, we ALWAYS knew when it was a full moon, every nutjob in the word would come out of the wood works! LOL. DIllon, on the other hand has not shown me any indication of full moon behavior...I am sooo lucky!

I guess now I know why Zia wouldn't sleep these past two nights. Last night Zia and I ended up sleeping on the couch because I thought she might have gotten too hot in the bed.
As a teacher, you can tell when the weather is going to change because those sweet little kids turn into monsters!
