Poor Rhys, I had that happen to Duncan one time. I worked nights then, and pretty much kept that schedule on my days off. I happen to look over around 4 AM one morning as he was laying on the floor and his snout was swelling up. I looked him over real good, and it appeared like there were little bite marks in the middle of the of the two places it was swelling at. The only thing I could think of was a spider bite. I had some Children's benedryl and gave him a dose of it real quick. I tried to put some cold cloths on the swelling but he wouldn't stand for that. Talk about being worried sick!!! I was afraid the swelling would keep going and he would have trouble breathing. I was on the phone the minute the vets opened to ask them what I could do. They said I was doing the right thing with the benedryl, and to give him a dose every 8 hours. I kept benedryl around because of his allergies to some in the grass in the spring and fall, that's when it bothers him the most.
