"Nosy" Corgi!

I fell asleep on the couch last night and woke up around 3:00 a.m. to two smiling Corgi faces wanting to go out and potty. So they did.

Fast forward to 9:00 a.m. I get up and the dogs follow me, sleepily, to the living room. Andy sits next to me and Rhys jumps up on the couch and curls up. I spend 20 minutes checking my email for something important, then I turn around to get up and feed/take out the dogs. Rhys is sitting up now and I realize "Oh my goodness! What is wrong with your face?!" Rhys's muzzle was swollen up to twice its normal size!

We went to the vet...it's just an allergic reaction to something. Seeing as Corgis are very nosy and curious, he probably stuck his face into the bushes and got bitten by a bug of some kind. Anyway, the swelling apparently doesn't bother him, but I felt bad for him. He got a steroid shot and a benadryl shot and has to take pills for a few days - but he'll be fine. We went to the vet at 9:45 and his face is much less swollen already.

If only he would learn not to put his nose where it doesn't belong!

Tana,

That is a very scary thing to see happen. It happened to my previous Pem one summer afternoon. I know the vet gave her a benedryl and some shot also ,and I do remember her then getting quite sick in the evening and vomiting and having diarrhea, but she was okay the next day.

Glad to hear that Rhys is okay

Poor Rhys - if he's anything like Rupe - he followed his little snoot towards something that smelled yummy! Glad he's doing better!

Good to hear from you - I know you've been busy.

I have posted a couple of Rhys's "puffy face" photos in the gallery. He is doing 100% better today - like nothing ever happened.

Right now he is laying next to the new bag of food I bought today. Guess he's protecting it.

Thanks for the concern about my little fella!

Rhys will be happy to hear that!

BTW, could you send me the "frosty paws" recipe again? I know it's really simple, but I am giving it to someone else and want to tell them the right thing!
