OK Boots is precious and I adore him but in my reading I havent found exactly how long it takes for their ears to stand up? Also does their coat change colors much as they age? These may have been answered a hundred times but I am having a hard time finding the answers I need. Thanks a bunch for your help.

His dad had some pretty big ears but his moms had been broken when she was attacked as a pup. Hers looked small but the breeder said that the vet had to put them back together with surgury so they were gonna be larger I would say. He is 10 weeks and they are just kinda folded in half right now. I promise to get a picture of him asap. As far as color is it ok for them to have the darker hair? I am not into showing I just wondered.

It will fall out and be replaced by adult coat. They (generally) get lighter as they age.

Both of Dale's ears were up when I brought him home but one flopped half way down so I scotchtaped it around half way up for 24 hours then took pity on him and took the tape off. Both ears stood straight up and have not come back down so you may want to try that. I am no expert but it worked for Dale. Also Dale is changing colors too. He was a muddy brown black and now his head and parts of his sides are turning red. He was 10 weeks old on Tuesday. Hope this helps.

The ears should be up by 10-12 weeks. If they are not up by then I tape them.

Also adding vitamin c to his diet should help the ears to come up.

The following notes are from a seminar I attenended a couple years agao. The speaker was Pat Hastings, an AKC judge, former professional handler, and
breeder. The info on vit. c is from her own experience and research she
did on canine nutrition.

My notes:
" According to Cornell it is found to increase the absorption of calcium. Dogs
only make enough Vit. C for maintenance, but not stress. Adding Vit. C will allow the dog to use it if they need it. Start with 2 250 mg. tablets (chewable, for kids) increase by teething time to problem is fixed, then go back to the maintenance dose. Use any form of Vit. C without calcium in it during the growth stages. Added calcium can cause bone spurs."

If your puppy gets soft stools, cut back on the vitamin c. Too much will cause diarrhea.

My breeder told me to start taping Ponzo's ears at 4 mnths if they weren't up by that time...Well, he just turned one and those stinkin ears stick up a bit when they want, and are floppy the rest of the time. I taped until he was about 9 mnths, but with no avail. Follow the PhiVestavia site and you should be fine if you have to tape. Good luck though, it's the pits taking the tape off.

Byron came with one ear up and one ear down at 3 Months

At 6 momths, the 2nd ear came up.

But still, I notice that the second ear is a little weak. When running that ear doesn't stay up like the other. It flops a little

I don't take the tape off, unless there is a problem I leave it on till it comes off by itself. Then again, I usually have littermates that help with that.

I will try it! Thanks a ton! His ears are precious down but i know they need to be up to be a true member of the corgi nation! Also he kinda resembles a ground hog with them down. Hee hee hee!

Both Tuck and Lu had their ears up early.

I've never seen a pic of either of them w/ ears down. I should ask the breeder for old pics.

I remember putting the E collar on Tucker after his "Tutor" surgery and swearing that it had better not make his ear drop! He managed to find a way to smuch one ear.

Boots ears are starting to creep up. I talked to the breeder the other day and she said if he was teething they may droop. Have any of you ever seen this? He is teething big time.
