Does anyone know of any breeders in the southeast area, I am thinking of getting a second Pembroke.
Also any advise on introducing a new puppy to my 2 yr old corgi? At this point I am torn as to when I will get another one. I know I want another one, just trying to time it right for me and my family.

Cindy,
Where exactly are you located in TN? Coming up May 21st in Kingsport is the 6th annual corgi picnic. We have folks come from as far west as the Nashville area in addition to a number of out of staters CA, KY, OH, MI, Maine, NC, VA, etc. We do have a few breeders who attend in addition to a number of rescue volunteers along with just a bunch of corgi lovers. Related Link: <http://webpages.charter.net/noelcorgi/picnic06> will give you more information. Bring Darci along and we can see how she does with the other corgis and we'll be happy to help in anyway possible to find the right second corgi for you. There are a number of excellent breeders in the southeast, some PWCCA members in TN, the PWC Club of Greater Atlanta, Palmetto PWC Club would all be good places to begin your search. Debbie |

Thanks so much for the info Debbie. I live 45 minutes south of Knoxville in Athens, Tn. Not far at all from Kingsport.
We will mark our calendar for May. I looked at the webpages from the picnic, oh my, so sweet....... Again thanks so much, I look forward to the picnic and meeting so many other corgi lovers. Cindy

Update
Ok I have found a breeder in Sweetwater, Tn about 15 minutes from me, we are going to look at some pups today.
1 of them though has a grade 3 heart murmur, just dont think from the research that I have done that I want to do that. They also have a few older dogs for adoption. I cant wait........... They have a great website immeressen.com

I love to see older dogs adopted. No dog is perfect and I am glad for that. They would be so boring if they were. My Duchess's quirks fascinate me. Cindy what is a grade 3 heart murmer?

Well she had 3 puppies left and 1 had a signifcant overbite that her vet said may require some teeth to be removed when she got older.
1 had a hernia ( no biggie ) but she also had these spots all over both of her eyes the breeder said she had never seen it before but it didnt seem to bother her vision. 1 had the grade 3 heart murmur, last week the vet said it was a grade 4. She wants to keep him a while to see how he does, it could possibly get better as he gets older or it could get much worse, debilitating to even death. Whew...... She did say that all the puppies from that litter had something wrong with them. That worried me.... She had another litter of 4 puppies 2 were spoken for and the breeder was keeping 2 of them. She had probably 15 or 20 adults. I had never seen so many corgi's in one place...

At least, in my opinion. If you've read about those clinically insane pet freaks with a home filled with as many animals as this, you should know that something is seriously wrong. Do not hesitate to call the ASPCA or even the police. Chances are, if the the puppies are in this bad of shape, many of the adults are sickly as well. Remember, this is for the good of the corgis. Think of the corgis! -Chris |

Hold on a minute... there is nothing in what Cindy related that indicates abuse or cruelty. Overbites, hernias, and heart murmurs can happen in the most carefully bred of litters. That all three were in one litter (and more than likely this was not the first litter with this parentage) indicates to me that there are heriditary issues involved and a responsible breeder would remove the sire and dam from their breeding program. >At least, in my opinion. There is nothing indicating any collecting or hoarding going on. High volume breeding, puppies as products type thing, yes - hoarding and collecting are very different. > Do not hesitate to call the ASPCA or even the police. Again there is nothing here that speaks to inadequate care, neglect or abuse. The parents may be perfectly healthy. That three puppies in this litter were born with inherited health problems speaks to the genetic incompatibility of the parents. You could try reporting Mother Nature to the ASPCA if there is a party to point fingers at. Now would I send a referral to this particular breeder as a good place to get a puppy? NO. But I wouldn't have recommended Cindy go there before she visited. I had been to their website before it was brought up here and saw all the warning signs, plus they are on the rescue radar. Whoa...........
They werent breeding all 15 dogs, some of those had been spayed or nutr. and were available for adoption. I didnt see anything there that would make me think they were abusing the animals, If I had I would have called animal control from my cell that minute. All of the animals including the ones with health problems looked healthy, nice coats, clean and very well feed. All of the animals were outside during the day in a very large area that was fenced in, ( different fenced in areas they werent all together) and then at night they were all brought in to the house. She said she had crates in the house for them, now when I say fifteen dogs I am not 100 % sure there were 15 adults I didnt count them. I think there were 2 maybe even 3 that werent corgi's, that were running around playing. I didnt mean to cause such a misunderstanding, and wouldnt want them to think I was slandering them, I in no way meant that by my previous post and hope that I have cleared that up. At the same time it's so good to see so much passion for such a wonderful breed. I feel amazed at the interest and love for all of those willing to make a stand to insure that we inforce humane treatment for animals, pat's on the back for everyone. Again, sorry for this misunderstanding.........

I must be going blind - my eyesight is fading away like the keys on my computer keyboard are. As I read it from Cindy, this breeder has 22 Corgis at present - seven puppies of which she is keeping two - and 15 adults. And she brings all of them into her house. I only hope she lives in Beverley Hills in one of those massive 'palaces.'

lmao......................
thats what she told me.................lol I cant imagine that many dogs in my house even if they were crated. I didnt go into the house so I cant say........ I did go to the pwcca website and there was a breeder listed about an hour away, I e-mailed her and she has responded, she only has a 1 sometimes 2 litters a yr. She shows her dogs, seemed like a very nice woman, I look forward to meeting her. I dont think she has a litter planned for another 6 months. I do have a question ? At what age would you stop breeding a dog ?
