Tucker has an extraordinarily fluffy butt and chest. We like to say he has a "mane like a lion" because he's so fluffy around his face. Here's a picture of him walking with his brother in his summer coat - he's more fluffy than usual now in the winter.

Tucker's (not biological) brother Newman, half Cardi half Bassett (we think) has an amazingly thick coat, with the rough top and soft underside that you would expect of a purebred Cardi, but not as long. He's got a somewhat fluffy butt also!

Tucker's fluffiness helps disguise how tiny he is - 25lbs of firecracker Pembroke Corgi - he's got energy like crazy but is on the small end of the breed. He's very muscularly built, as well - which is funny because his biological son "Badger" is distinctly barrel-shaped.

We do comb them out stright, but also want them to look full and thick.

And that depends on the dog. You can't have a "one size fits all" grooming. If a dog has a muscular chest already he won't need the hair combed up to give that appearace.

You want the dog to look balanced not overdone in any one area.

wow! I'm so glad someone started this thread. Foxy is not very fluffy, and her coat is definitely a "working" coat. I was beginning to worry that something was wrong with her, as she really doesn't look like the dog show corgis. Her butt "fluff" is more like "straggly" compared to the groomed ones on the dog shows...

good thread!

So I guess Montana is a working coat too. Her butt is very straggly. I can't complain though she is the best. She has a great personality.

Ein's got a fluffy butt and a big fluffy,or puffy, chest! He gets it from his dad. Sometimes the butt fluff kind of goes out at an angle like he's been running really fast. When he does his stretch and shake you can see it start from the top of his head and ending up at his butt. The angled butt fluff is the last to shimmy and it makes him look like a duck shaking water off his body. So cute! :>

So that's what Jackie's butt would look like if I didn't shave it. Luxurious!
