What bedding does your corgi use in their crate? - 02-21-2007, 10:24 PM

For the corgis that sleep in their crate, what bedding do you put in?

I used a standard pillow for a long time before my dog was elderly then I made sections of the pillow top foam for her bed. I'm saving those for the senior stage.
But in preparation for getting a puppy, is a pillow okay? - a soft but used so it isn't so fluffy.

I used flannel pillow cases in the winter, cotton for the summer.

I noticed some use lambswool - the real thing or synthetic? I had synthetic that my past dog used as a pillow. But as a puppy she used a worn towel.

I used a fluffy bed that I could throw in the washer and dryer. For where my dog would lay outside, I put a cedar chip filled bed under cover. (for when we were out there only, we were in, dog was in, bed was inside and dry for the next use)

Disclaimer: some puppies are sensitive to cedar chips and cedar oil. I made sure I had a double layer of fabric over the cedar chips and that my dog was at least 6-8 mos old.

I used cedar chips in my chicken coop too... stuff worked great!!

Here is what it looked like: http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...N=2025624&Ne=2

They are machine washable, and they bounce back well!

bedding? wicca wonders what bedding is!!!?
wicca eats beds- so wicca gets no bed. she sometimes will get an old towel- but the minute there is chewing out it comes. maybe one day wicca will grow up and be able to have a nice bed, until then towels are cheap and easy to wash.

sam has a baby crib size quilt in his crate. it is great because it washes well- and is easy to replace when it gets really gross.

princess kate has a deluxe foam bed with a fleece cover....

I use a fleece pad(from a pet store) which fits Cody's crate perfectly and is easy to wash.

I bought a pad from PetSmart. It is a Precision Pet Product. Fits the crates perfect and is easy to wash, too.

Tucker's new crate came with a padded fake sheepskin cover. He seems to like it.

In her crate, Jackie has a berber pad with bolsters, and she sleeps with her teddy bear and Disney blanket.

I know what's coming . . . bring it on!

There are four dogs using crates. Bedding is recyled clothing, towels, and a few work shirts. All of this is washable, very important because the dogs spend time outside looking for dirty places.

In the winter the layers are thicker, usually starting with 3-4 pairs of jeans, then a towel or two, and the shirts which stir nicely. I assume your dog arranges its bed to suit itself.

We have wool from our sheep. A fleece wrapped in an old sheet is the favorite out-of-crate bedding for the corgis. It is so comfortable and smells just like the sheep. No, indeed, this is not in the house. It is on the sun porch.

ok, So I am not taking shots at Fluffypants ( ya hear that jessica? ) so no making fun of my spoiled dogs I bought Dillon an orthopedic memory foam mattress that has a washable cover on it...and then I wrap that with his own sheet and it goes in his soft crate along with his little purple teddybear and his own little blanket... I did the same exact set up for Gus when he came to me... so they have identical crates ( just a different colored sheet, blanket and teddy bear inside, so i know who's is who's on wash day!)

We used a synthetic lambswools pad for Byron.

My wife got him a pillow - with a his name and a picture of a corgi on it - for his crate and he hated it. He looked so uncomfortable on it - too puffy for him.

We have taken his crate down now - we now trust him around the house alone. He is never alone for more than 2 houses

Crates have a fleece pad purchased from pet stores, alternated w/ folded up baby quilt when I do doggie laundry.

But mine also have snuggle balls for sleeping outside their crates! They look like bean bag chairs and they nest in them. Tucker used to love his but now only my bed will do for him.

Oh Jessica, you know I have to go for it!!!!

Doesn't she have Minnie Mouse jammies??

A little pink eye sleep-mask with a feather fringe??

A night-light shaped like Cinderella's castle???

A windup musical mobile that plays "It's A Small World"???

Oh, thanks, I feel better now!!!

I am an evil mother - all the lovely dog beds have been absconded by the cats - however in retaliation Rupert and Jemma have taken over my new chair! Especially Rupe!!!
