It doesn't and "bother" - they squeal and fuss some being taken away from mom and siblings and then settle back in.

Banding or surgical.

There are a number of detailed threads on docking. With the new search features on the forum making archived topics easier to find, I recommend checking those out.

Hay I am not trying to mean or nasty I just stated what I new and okay I was wrong sorry.. I am open to learn all I can, this will not be the first or the last time I am wrong either.

I know where I heard they were born with no tail- when my sister in law brought her home she had read in a book at the vets office that they had no tail she is going to look at it again today and see if it is born with no tail or docked..

Originally PWC's were a naturally bobbed breed, and those still occur today. Today, by far the majority of Pems ARE born with tails which are docked. IF you will look through some of the photos in the gallery and/or in past puppy threads you will come across pictures of new born Pem puppies and you will find they all have tails on them.

Donna:

Puppies that are born have tails and they are cropped as Debbie said when they are three days old.
