One other con of a wire crate is that if you are in an accident and the crate is damaged/crushed the wires can break and impale your dog.

There have been studies (and no I don't have them available) that vari kennels are the safest for car or airplane travel.

Not saying you shouldn't use a wire crate, just something to think about.

Bonnie, Dillon started using the kind of harness that Colcort posted in his thread when he was about 4 months old...then i bought a new one when he was about 11 months old as he grew out of his old one! IT works pretty well but not for long long trips, only around town driving...the longest i have taken him in that harness in the car is about 1 1/2 ride- he can lay down in the seat wearing it so he is comfy.
