Do you take your Corgi everywhere?

How many take their Corgi everywhere they go? Sassy goes everywhere we go, if we stop at the store either my husband sits in the car with her or we leave it running with the air on if it is hot and lock her up if only going to be a short time. She is soo spoiled. As soon as my husband starts the truck up on her perch in the front seat she goes. She thinks that is her truck. I think since we have had her she has stayed home a total of 5 times. She does not destroy anything if left, but boy she will try her best to get out the door if we let her. Was not sure if this was the norm with most Corgi owners.

Byron goes every where with us also.

As a matter of fact we traded a car for him

We had a convertiable that he did not enjoy. He did not like the top bring down and it was tought to get him in and out of the back seat. We were using the truck that gets 10MPG most of the summer to cart him around.

In the fall we traded the Convertiable for a Station Wagon - he loves it...

Since we bought it for him, we figured it needed this plate - CRGIWGN

My two go most places with me. I am single so getting them into training programs was essential. I wanted a dog who could go places with me.

Of course, the weather dictates a lot of this. In the fall and spring when it's cool I have no issues taking them with me. Winter if it is mild they will go with me in the car but in the summer they tend to stay home a lot more.

If I really need to do shopping, it goes like this: a store for me, a store for them, a store for me, a store for them. A store for them means they allow dogs inside. Mostly pet stores but my favorite is the Orvis Flagship store in manchester VT! They have a sign on the door: Dogs are welcome! Love that store!

But since life w/ Tucker and Lulu, I look for things to do with the dogs. And if you look, it is amazing how many things go on for dogs and dog lovers. This past summer the Pet Professionals organization had monthly Dog Happy Hours on Sunday afternoons. Bring your dog, have a few drinks, a burger, etc. The minor league ball club had Bark at the Park - bring your dog to the ball game. Rescue organizations do all kind of benefit activities that are fun for humans and dogs. Border Collie Rescue of New England had a great weekend last summer letting dogs and handlers try flyball, agility, rally, herding, games, etc.

I have no kids and all the assorted activities that go with them - so I look for fun things to do with the dogs. Always meet interesting people who love their dogs too.

I love to take the dogs for rides. I wish I could have them at work ... It would make the day less stressful and time move faster. If Miller hears the jingles of his traveling collar he is sitting at the door waiting to head out!

Clogs goes most places that we do - at least whenever possible. She loves to go in the car, but if the shopping is too long (by her estimation) she'll sulk and won't speak when I come back. Needs a bit of jollying to restore the good temper.
Autumn, winter and spring are no problem here, but some summer days, if we're not going to be in a car-park under shelter, she has to stay home. The bottom lip trembles somewhat then.
But the welcome when we do get back is stupendous, with much rocketing involved.

I'm like Susan, a regular single Corgi Mom. I take mine everywhere I can in the car if it's not too hot or cold. They will happily ride in the car from errand to errand just to be with me. I plan weekends around them as on Saturdays and Sundays they get a 1-2 hour outing at the lake, creek, river or golf course, then I fit in the Mom stuff.

I'm lucky that most of my friends include them when inviting me to events and they adore visiting people and are well behaved so get invited back. I too wish they could come to work!!!

I take mine to school to teach with. I do what is called a vet lab each year. They have to try to figure out why corgis would be bred to have shorter legs. I use them to talk about selective breeding and genetics. They love it. The dogs eat up all the attention and the kids love to play with my boys.

Another single corgi Mum here too but have to leave them at home when I am in school when I am teaching. Now I need to figure out how I can take mine to school and incorporate them in my lessons- I teach French and Spanish so how can I fit corgis around that?

Le Corgi? El Corgo? Have a lesson on short, furry, hungry, and stubborn adjectives?

I am single, too - mine only get to go up to the university if I am making a short stop, not going to class (unfortunately). I have actually had a few professor meetings with one or both of my pups!
I like to take them to the dog park and to PetSmart on the weekend. I will also do short errands while they are in the car (they went to the post office the other day - in the car). I like to have them around.
The only bad thing is that Rhys thinks the best place to ride in the car is IN MY LAP! He looks like an adorable co-pilot; however, not the safest place for either one of us - so he has a passenger seat doggy seatbelt. Andy is content in the back seat.

Yes, Liam goes with me when it's not too hot. He rides co-pilot. He didn't know how to get in and out and I had to show him if he jumped off the seat onto the floor it was a lot closer to the ground. He likes to bark at pedestrians and that can be very loud so I had to tell him NO BARK, say ROOROO. And now he'll just make a funny rooroooo noise at them.

Zip and Zia go a lot of places with us, depending on where we are going and what we are doing. I wish I could take them to work with me. I've said before that Zia could herd my 1st graders for me! We've had a few trips out of town that they didn't get to go with us. They will stay with my parents or our son. They will be spending a lot of time at the lake between now and September.

Toby goes to work with me and has his own fanclub of people that come in to see him. He has been going since he was a pup and my boss has no problem with him. It's a great way to socialize him because there are so many people that go to our bookstore and I keep him with me, or behind the desk. He also goes with me on short errands.

I would love to bring Buta to work & out shopping with me but in Singapore that is just impossible. As we are a multi-racial country, our percentage of muslims & chinese are quite similar. Muslims are not allowed to touch dogs so all public transports, buildings & areas do not allow owners to bring their dogs. I have never come across any shops (other then petshops or cafes) that allow pets. For respect of our muslim friend's religion, we try our best to avoid them while with our dogs.
