Duncan tries to take a toy out of the house everytime he goes. He's pretty sneaky and if I don't see them to he is out the door. Usually, I tell him to leave it and he'll drop it by the door. But, still, a couple of times a week, I have to go outside and gather the toys from the backyard to bring in. And my pathway in the kitchen is almost always littered with stuffed toys, tug ropes, and latex squeakers.

Sure wish he would learn to put those toys back!!!!

The only time Rupe ever did anything similar was when he was between about 10 weeks and 16 weeks. He would take his stuffed teddybear out with him - only for the first morning tinkle. It was so cute, this little stubby guy, with his teddy in his mouth, doing his little squat - he didn't lift his leg yet. I actually had a person pull over in their car, roll down the window and tell me it was the cutest thing they'd ever seen! The none day he just stopped bringing teddy and that was it. Sometimes I really wish I knew what they were thinking!

When Milo was a puppy he was more prone to pick up things on walks and carry them. Once it was a cigar butt. Ewww. At the beach he would pick up and carry sea shells. Soda bottles, plastic wrappers, sticks, etc. Not so much anymore.

Last week he found a slim jim someone tossed out. At first I thought it was a stick, until I took a closer look... and he stopped to eat it. I wouldn't let him eat it. He really doesn't carry stuff around much anymore. I have a friend that trained her Golden to carry her own poop bags and drop it in the trash can.

Yep, Liam likes to carry things too. He's a sox maniac. And he's a toy hound.

We used to have to do "mouth-check" with the Goldens when they were going in or out so outside stuff didn't come in and inside stuff didn't go out.

Zip doesn't pick up things on our walks; Zia tries to. Zia likes to bring in sticks and pecans through the doggie door. Zip likes to take his toys outside through the doggie door, it is always the toys with material! One cute thing Zip does: when someone he knows comes over, he runs to his toy box, grabs a toy, and takes the toy to whomever came in the door.

Molsen loves to carry stuff. When he picks it up ... he is so proud he get his little prance on! Miller on the other hand we have to watch him to make sure he has not picked something up and swallowed it ... He swallows anything. It is dangerous not to keep an eye on him.

Jackie likes to carry sticks around on her walks - the bigger and more unwieldy the better. It's incredibly entertaining to watch, when she's trying to drag a big ol' tree branch around with us.

But it's very distracting as well, so I have to discourage her from doing it until AFTER she goes potty. Otherwise she gets so caught up prancing around with her stick, she forgets! Silly puppy!

Jessica - I think our dogs must be kindred spirits, that is exactly what Mazie does .

She loves to scavenger the yard, but sticks (and sometimes tree limbs) are her favorite. Just this weekend she picked up a stick that was twice as long as her body...she couldn't even get her head high enough off the ground to keep it from dragging. I was laughing so hard at her effort that I couldn't even use my "mommy" voice to get her to drop it.

And, of course, she always wants to bring them into the house...

Yes, I find it quite amusing when Jackie tries to pick up a huge tree limb. First she tips one way . . . . . and then the other. I also love when she picks up a really long branch, and the other end of it pokes her in the butt! Then she whips around like WHO POKED ME?!?!?!?!?! But without dropping the stick, of course . . . so the dance continues . . .
