What a terrible predicament to be in, Cheetah...a loving Corgi in pain and being unemployed at the same time surely wrenches my heart for you. I'm certainly no vet and know next to nothing compared to everyone else here but, besides the diarrhea problem, perhaps his back pain is primarily because of the excess exercise in that he wasn't use to so much playing. I'm sure he wouldn't let you put ice packs on his back to even see if that would help. Surely the vet would let you work out a payment plan of some sort.

I know this wasn't any help but, I think the vet will be the only answer to his problem to weed out anything unforeseen.

I second this. Ours has a vet clinic that does give reduced rates depending on need.

Good luck to you and your poochie, hope everything is back to normal in no time.

oh Cheetah, I am so sorry to hear that...Sounds like Shippo really needs to see the vet though, can you talk to the vet about a payment plan or something? ((((((((((((((((shippo and Cheetah))))))))))))))))) big hugs...

Ok, so I can't find a vet that will take a payment plan, and all the low income clinics are closed for the weekend. >-.-<

Also, after sitting here for an hour looking for a vet, Shippo started to improve... once he was dry from me having to wash his back end, he dropped to the floor and started rolling around on the carpet. Then, he tried to play with Eevee, but I intervened because I'm scared he might hurt himself again playing rough so soon.

I've given him an Imodium and a small meal of rice and ground beef, and now he is lying here chewing on a toy. He hasn't pooped for a few hours, so I'm not sure if he still has the runs or not. He's still not 100%, but he's no longer acting depressed, and he's walking a little faster, plus still has his appetite (he just got done begging for my oreos >O\/o< ...)

I also am in touch with a vet tech friend of mine, just in case. But unfortunately, since no vet that's open right now will take a payment plan and all our local shelters are closed to the public for the weekend, I will have to give it until Monday. This was the worst possible time for him to get sick... any other time I would have been able to handle it financially.

I actually think he is going to be okay though, but if for some reason he declines again, I will rush him to a vet and put myself in debt if that's what it takes (Alameda East is just up the street, and they are open, but they are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$).

Yup, just like human kids. Sigh.

Looks like things are on the mend, hope it stays that way.

Awww (((((((HUGS)))))))) to Shippo, I hope he feels better soon.

I know this type of thing has happened to Izzy 2 or 3 times before after we've spent extra time running at the park. She usually seems to feel better within a few hours (I think it may be the equivalent of the first day of conditioning for sports), but she has never had diarreah before.

Most vets will offer you a payment program - so check that out too. Hope Shippo's feeling better.

Cheetah:

I don't have much money but if you need to take Shippo, please email me your address and I can send you a little bit and maybe some other people may be able to also. I know what it is like to be in this situation so please keep us posted.

Ditto-so, do I Bonnie. I could part with some for the sake of getting him well again.
