Talking Shippo Art - My Drawing

I just had to show this off... I got out the cheapo mechanical pencil and some crayola colored pencils and whipped this out in about 4 hours (split up by doggy and movie distractions lmao). It's meant to be an example drawing, of what I could draw for other pet owners... it was suggested to me that since I'm poor now, I should use my art to try and make some extra cash lmao... Um, anyway, here's my cute Shippo drawing to start!!! >^_^<

Had to take a photo since I can't afford a freaking scanner lmfao... what do you guys think?

Hey, that's a pretty good rendition Cheetah, love his expression. It would be cool to have something like that on note cards or other items. I'll have to think about that now.

The link didn't bring the photo into the post but here is the direct link:

You did a digital sketch him once too? Could you post that image again?

Thanks! For those who are really interested, I'm in the processing of setting up a simple website with prices etc. I'll let you guys know when I finish it... shouldn't take more than a day. >^^;<

For the physical drawings, I would of course mail people the originals (I'd only keep a digital copy to use as a tiny example on the web page), and shipping would be included in the price. Trying to figure things out like additional dogs in the same drawing (A friend suggested $5 per extra dog in the same drawing, as opposed to two separate drawings etc.) which would be cheaper. My grandmother who is the successful artist of the family (although she doesn't do it anymore lately) suggested that $30 would not be too much to pay for one custom 9x12 color drawing (including shipping). Sounds fair to me. Apparently, she charged upwards of $50 for hers. >O.o;<

You are very talented! I will be watching for news of your web site opening, and I need to get a good picture of Millie ready (although maybe I should wait until after we get our new Cardi puppy in May). How wonderful for you!

Cheetah:

I have always wanted a picture of Digger on the beach with the waves coming in behind him and never did succeed in capturing that on film. He loved the beach but hated the water. Is that something you possibly could do?

Ok guys... I finally put together a simple little site for this... after much cussing because this free web software SUCKSSSSS lmao...

~CheetahSwift Creations

Let me know if it's missing anything. And yes, only one sample pic haha... gotta get customers to get more samples! >^^;<

Also, I'll be working on the intro... I know it's short and stupid lmfao...

As for waves, it may take a while (and some more colorful words), but I think I can do it. >^^;<

I'll have to think about that...it would be cool to have an original drawing of my babies.

You did a good job with that one of Shippo - very pretty.

Cheetah, first thing, protect your artwork. Put the word SAMPLE across the picture on your website or it will be copied.

You did this from a live dog not a photo right? My son can only draw from a photo is why I ask. Reason is, set up your easel at a dog park with this picture as your example. A nice day at the park, make a little money, good thing it isn't winter. Have business cards stating commission work, call for appointment or whatever with your website. Vistaprint.com always has low priced cards if they have a logo you like. Farmers Market might be another location as many shoppers bring their dogs with them.

CafePress.com is a website/outfit where I "think" you submit your artwork and they reproduce it. I don't believe the artists here that use that website do all the reproducing. Just an idea to see if they are cheaper on doing a set of cards.

This is what the artist I know who uses cafepress put on her own website:

Today you can visit Orchard Studio online store for art gifts
with designs by Joann: CafePress.com
Purchase canvas totebags, notecards, t-shirts, mugs, aprons,
art tiles and many more unique art gifts.

See if there is an art alliance group where they have artists set up and "do their art" as a demo that you could join and participate. Here is my town's art alliance website in case their activities give you ideas. Art Alliance of Idyllwild

See if the pet stores or grooming or whatever, will display your artwork for sale on their walls. Of course, they will get a percentage so you will have to price higher. The groomers may want a sketch to show off their work!

That is all the brainstorming I can do tonight.

I figure if I can't buy your prints (because my son is artistic) at least I can give you ideas on selling yours because you are excellent! Your pricing is fine. You might need to price live model higher vs photo if a live model takes longer.

Merrie
