Do you feed your corgis ice cream - 03-28-2007, 06:31 PM

We just got back from going to the local malt shop and getting chocolate milk shakes and I bought a small scoop of vanilla ice cream for the two corgi boys. Needless to say they loved it.

I fed Riley some once and only once - it took a whole roll of paper towels and a lot of carpet cleaner to deal with the consequences!! Too rich for her poor little tummy!
I have given them frozen yoghurt and they are fine though!

Ice cream - I had a Corgi who didn't like ice cream much to the suprise of a shop keeper who on one hot day opposite a lovely beach, presneted him with a ice cream in a cone.

Ice cream is sugary and fattening ( well at least the usual NZ version are because they are made of up to 100 percent of cream) so it is very go easy on giving ice cream to dogs. However we steer right away from chocolate icecream because choc is toxic to dogs. Taylor gets ice cream almost zilch but he does get to lick out a bowl that has had whipped cream in it or to race me to lick off the cream on one of the whipping machine beaters after the cream has been whipped.

Do chip and dale tend to have issues with foods? see Dillon has a tender tummy so that could be why he was unable to digest icecream well, he has always been on the sensitive tummy side ( but at least he is better since we added pumpkin to his diet)..Gus seems to have a little stronger tummy but i havent been pushing it too much either!!

Here are pics. I just pulled it out of the icecream machine, but the pic is of it churning. Note, big plump maserated over-night in Myers Special Dark Rum raisins!

Toby LOVES ice cream. He gets a small cup of vanilla when we have ice cream monday at work. He knows the word ice cream and when we are at home if you say it, he will go to the freezer and wait.
