Smitty got robbed!
OK, I'll be the first to admit it.... I watched the WE network's "puppy Saturday Night". They have a new show called something like "Cutest Puppy". It was taped in LA.
Three judges pick from a group of pups the top ten, then the top five, then the cutest puppy. Of course there was a red and white Pem puppy named Smitty. Smitty made it ti the top ten but that was it. A cute terrier mix won. Smitty was robbed! No way was any of the other pups cuter tham Smitty! Robbed!!!!

I think there is an underground backlash in contests against purebred dogs. It's safer to have a mix win - then it's not a "breedist" decision. I think you should all march on Washington, or write your congress-people!!!

Smitty walked in on leash, little nub sticking up, ears up.... Actually, the ears had some serious movement to them kind of like Dillons!!!! Old Smittey was absolutely adorable.
Far cuter (but of course lesst cute than Smitty) was a boxer puppy. I thought for sure the boxer would win. One judge was a dog photographer, an other was a trainer for dogs in showbusiness..... and the 3rd was the head of the Lakers Cheerleaders. Give me a break! Put any of us on that show and we certainly would have chosen old Smitty as cutest puppy. The only right choice!

Susan - I didn't see the show, but I went to WE's website about the show. Guess what kind of puppy is on the front page AND is the pup shown on the still from the episode???
 I'm guessing that's Smitty?Deb - I think you are right about purebred backlash. I noticed that when Old Navy finally chose its "spokesdog," it was a mixed breed. I do believe that they are trying to be politically-correct (pup-litically correct?) by picking a dog that has no particular connotations; a mixed breed is a very American, melting-pot kind of dog. But Smitty wuz robbed.

Corgis are too cute. That is their problem. It is far too easy for a judge to pick a Corgi. Then of course, most times they don't choose the dog - they choose the handler or a combination of the two.
