Another dumb ?
Harley is 8 months old and very hyper, he's on the go until he drops for a nap!
My dumb ? is ..... do they get cuddly with age? My other 2 dogs are cuddly bunnies so I was just wondering if Harley would become one too.

If you have a hyper active Corgi pup, they are unlikely to switch off for cuddle times - because that is being inactive and far too restive. But puppy stages don't last long
Just continue to sow the seeds of love and affection, and your pup will 'come around' given time. The only hyper Corgi pup I had anything to do with was Taffy whom I had the care of for two weeks and still see him monthly. Taffy is a lot more able to savor cuddle times now than he would as a pup who was always on the go and intensive in playing, eating and chewing, chewing, chewing. Taffy was always a good, if quick 'kisser.' Bit as with hyper dogs, everything is done at speed. I can pick up Taffy today and we will get into a cuddle/huddle. He still is hyper but much more manageable. He is now 18 months old. Hyper Corgis can be great fun - more fun in fact than the norm. Last edited by Michael Romanos; 04-20-2007 at 08:46 PM. |

Don't be discouraged. Just keep interacting with him, give him appropriate outlets for energy, and the bond between the two of you will continue to get stronger. My Corgi was also much more high energy and independent than I expected. She showed infrequent interest in cuddling at first and I felt the same way as you. She's almost a year old now and, while she still has plenty of energy, whenever I lay down on the couch, she jumps up too and curls up behind my legs. This is a noticeable difference from a few months ago.
Again, energy is a good thing. He'll be thrilled to go with you wherever you go. |

Most of them go on and on until they're ready for a nap. Then they crash all at once. Not all corgis are cuddely. It could be he's just not one to cuddle a lot. I would expect he'll calm down some with age, but wheather or not he'll be a cuddler I can't say. Peggy

I came here and asked if she'd ever warm up like you have. She does cuddle once in a while now and EVERY nigth at bed time she cuddles. Yes, she's spoiled, she gets to sleep with me and that's how I get my cuddle fix.
