Michael, why don't you "google" it and see how small an island it is? It is Pierce Island, Portsmouth NH. You should be able to tell just where we shall meet by the image.
I have not been to the island itself yet. That area of Portsmouth contains a large (by our standards) city park. I don't mean the island but the Prescott Park nearby where there are entertainments going on in the summer. An historic set of buildings called Strawberry Banke are opposite the park and a very unique flower garden. |

I shall have a look see. Your're creating history too. Probably no other dog group will have done what you are doing.
Ah ha, watch out for the owls - they are a hoot. You won't be able to see the woods for the trees. And you will get dizzy...... but have a lot of fun. Are the Corgis swimming to the island or have you arranged a boat ( you'll definitely need a crew of Corgis). Last edited by Michael Romanos; 04-24-2007 at 06:21 AM. |

Ha Ha Michael, you are a hoot! I had a "look/ see" at the island today. There is a small causeway to drive to the park area. As we drove down the road there were huge hills of gray matter on the water side. That is where the city of Portsmouth deposited piles of snow that is still melting under a layer of dirt.

Edna -Haven't you heard of Dial-A-Corgi. Yes, don't argue. Corgis can spend hours on a phone. Chewing the fat, so to speak. And do you know where the term 'switched-on Corgis' comes from? It is because Corgis can run telephone switchboards with ease. Thats also why they have multi-task abilites.
Jane - what a dirty mess there is going to be in that area- the sea will not be blue or green - it will be all snowed out, leaving the water a brown-gray sludgy colour. Oh well, keep your chin up and you may not notice it. |

Michael, during a severe Nor'easter recently the beaches took a big hit. The one in my town is closed completely and others have had extensive rebuilding of seawalls. While Massachusetts and Maine have miles of ocean front, New Hampshire only has about nineteen miles.
Last night on the television there was a severe weather advisory. More rain is expected and river flooding is a concern. With snow melting in the mountains, plus rain. So, Sundays playdate is still an "iffy" the last I heard it may rain right up to the afternoon on Sunday. But this is New England weather. Very changable. New Englanders being hardy we will not let a few drops stop us but we won't be going out in a downpour. Remember the rain date is May 6. Last edited by Jane Austen; 04-26-2007 at 06:19 AM. |

This is not normal - but what is normal in these days of Global Warming - but we have had no appreciable rain during daylight hours where I live since January. Up til the end of Jan, our summer was horrid. Thankfully we got a late, long burst and even right now it is almost into the last month or Autumn and still the temperatures are in the 60s (18 c). I am taking a punt on the weather in having the May Corgi walk in a dry weather venue, but in June, July and August I'll have to go for wet weather sites and aspects (eg sealed concrete, asphalt paths, and cafes instead of picnics).
Good luck for a fine day. Last edited by Michael Romanos; 04-29-2007 at 01:52 AM. |

There are only two spots on the US weather map that indicate showers Sunday. One of those small spots is right over New England. Still, it may not be too bad for us to meet at Pierce Island at 2 pm.

There is a fifty percent chance of rain. Ordinarily I would hold out till the last to go meet other corgi. But with Duchess having a rather severe case of diarreha, I don't think we will make it to Pierce Island today.
If the rest of you want to make a try at it I hope you get better weather than expected. Otherwise we can opt for next Sunday May 6th. |

I've just checked the radars/forecast and it looks like it will be a cool, damp day.
Long range forecast show next Sunday to be nice. Agreed - let's hold until next Sunday. Hope Duchess it better... |
