Awesome Playdate
We had great weather for our Mass/NH playdate. You could not have gotten better behaved dogs or such nice people together. We are tentatively scheduling the next playdate on Sunday, June 10th. The location, Derry NH Dog park.
I have a guest book and I will go through it later to announce just who attended. We had some surprise guests that we welcomed to join gocorgi. There was even a couple who came to take pictures for someone from California. The pictures should be fantastic, the clear weather and green grass have to be a good background for such handsome dogs. Sam Iwan took some pictures, Pat is going to get in contact with the gentleman who took the other pictures. Of course Edna and Laurie were missed along with Zachary. Sheree and her mother couldn't make it with Lady Tara. But there was at least eight corgi. Not to forget "Woody the bassett hound who got along with everyone. The youngest corgi was Colby, a good looking fluffy of six months? He is a lot of fun but not unruly as many pups are. With all the dogs running around it was not easy to keep count. Thank you Pat for suggesting Pierce Island. The parking was convenient and the walking was easy. I hope the others from the group will give their opinion of the playdate. Jane |

I am so envious. I wish there were more corgis in my area or I lived closer to Kingsport, maybe we could join in with some of the groups that way. Glad your weather was pretty and everyone had a great time. Would love to see pics.

Happy times. Good that everyone got along so well. But that's par for the course. Can't beat greenery - grass, bush, trees as a real pearl of a setting for Corgis.
Another Corgi has just joined the Wellington WC Walking Club that I am in. He is a very good looking four year old Pem named Sam who apparantly enjoys the company of big dogs - but Sam has yet to experience the crew of Corgis that form the club. He's in for a ball. |

The gentleman that took the pictures on orders from a contact in CAlifornia, is John Grossman. He sent me a link to where his pictures are posted. He said we could post them on this site so I am having Pat_m do that when he gets a chance. I viewed the pictures and they are beautiful too. He was careful to get some shots of every dog.

Wow, it looks like so much fun. I am glad everyone enjoyed themselves. Great pictures. Wish we could have been there, especially for Zachary. We hope to make the June meeting in Derry. By the way, who is that Corgi in the blue hat?

Gasp!!! Did I spy a Basset Hound in the water of all places at this playdate????? Woody doesn't look like he is lamenting that he's not built for water sports, looks like he is joining right in. Actually I had some interesting conversations with some Basset breeders about the breed and swimming. Granted they are not built the most "aqua-dynamic" (but then again, neither or corgis IF we want to be realistic), but using form follows function, they are built for going through dense low brush on the trail of rabbits and hare. That doesn't mean they can't swim and just like many dogs, regardless of breed or mix, they can be taught. Bassets are not going to be the long distance swimmers such as the Retrievers or PWD's or Newfies, but then neither will corgis. One breeder related how she used water therapy to help one of her Basset girls recover from an injury. Another sent photos of her American Champion Basset Hound swimming across a river which she graciously granted me permission to share. IF anyone is interested, send me an e-mail and I will pass them along.
Now, back to the regularly scheduled purpose of this thread. Looks like you guys had a GREAT time. Debbie |

Hey gang, Are we going to get a name for our group or should we just go by the name of Mass/NH? Should we be Coastal Corgis? It would be better to have a distictive name when we post to the calendar.
Anyone have other ideas? |

If you clicked on the link to John Grossman's photos from the playdate, You also get to see pictures of the flooding and storm damage from the Nor'easter we had along the coast. Part of the damage was caused by phenomenal high tides.
