Adaptable Corgis and owners
Robin Robertson, a New Zealander from the Wellington area ( where I live) now living in Australia, is a leading Pem breeder and show handler/judge.
In 2003, Robin judged again in the UK and brought home a trully beautiful red-headed tri Pem named Ceri (pronounced Kerry). Ceri is now an Australian show champion. Her great grand mother's breeder was the British Queen. Robin says she sometimes feels like Ceri's lady-in-waiting. Like me, Robin says the type of owners suited to the Pem are quite diverse. Says Robin, " they are not one-person dogs so they make a good family dog. They also are naturally attracted to children and love to join in games. They love being part of the family and they can also be happy lying at the feet of an elderly person. " But Pems are only suited to people who are prepared to spend some time in training them. They are easily excitable and if you don't give a Pem guidelines and let them know who is in charge, they will decide they might as well takeover. " Pems have an even temperament, friendly nature and sociable attitude." I can agree with all of what Robin says. |
