I'm so proud of Duncan

Our littlest grandchildren were over yesterday (4 and 5 year olds) and he was a doll. In the past, he would try and herd them or jump up on them for petting, so he got the name of "bad dog". They've always loved the corgi/chow mix I have because she is so calm and laid back, allows them to pet her and hug her (which use to worry me, cause she was a rescue and I had no idea what kind of interaction she had with little ones in her past).

Well, he was a almost a perfect gentleman, he did try and snatch his tug from their hands a couple of times. That's because of my husband, who plays like that with him. Let me come to my husbands's defense on that. He's never had a dog before, and wasn't knowledgeable of the do's and don'ts with dogs. So, I've been trying to teach him about such things, but like a puppy, I have to catch him in the act LOL!

Anyway, they played with him all afternoon doing fetch and he set still for petting and the kissed he gave them. It was nice not having to put him on a leash to keep him quiet while they were around. Of course, him being a year older since the last time they were here and could play outside probably was a big help. But, I'm still proud of him!!!!

It's lovely to see corgs and kids interacting so well. Probably the kids being a year older helps as well. Rosie is definitely not fond of very small humans, but she loves them when they get a bit bigger.

Corgis never do stop making little changes to their ideas and personalities. Just when you think they know things to their max, they go one or more steps/levels further. I have a very nice story to tell about the time I pointed out to Taylor in the street that there was a baby some distance away ( being held by his/her mother). Taylor trotted over to the pair and reached up on his back legs and kissed the baby on his/her leg.

Well, I hope that is a universal, as Rosie will have to get accustomed to small humans very soon now.

Good lord man! I'm f-a-r too old to get pregnant. You must have been looking at me with your eyes closed.

But our daughter and son-in-law are expecting an event in about....four weeks.

And it will affect our travel plans. We were intending to go South for a few months and winter over in a snowy place, but we don't want to miss out on our grand-daughter's first months. Small price to pay, methinks.

Aren't I nice though. The world's oldest woman to have a baby, I think is an Italian and she was I think 64 at the time. C'mon Clogs, you are many years younger and many years fitter (I bet) than this person with your Corgi Rosie, life style farm, kayaking etc.

No way, mate! If I have any babies now, there will be many, many questions to answer.
But....we are r-e-a-l-l-y looking forwards to being grandparents.

Now - set a good example and no more hijacking of Lou Ann's thread.
