Ha! That is hilarious. My wife has been trying to get me to install a basket on my bike for Nick. I think this video is going to seal the deal.

Bailey is wearing a car seat belt harness and under his chest he is shackled (a chain link that opens and closes) to a swivel and a four point harness. He can't get out. The four point harness (like an X) keeps the attachment point about in the middle of the basket. If you go back to Youtube and look at the earlier video just "Bailey Cam" you can see the harness and the straps underneath better.
When I started doing this he would have jumped out for a squirrel or a friend. He did once when I was stopped and had not attached him yet. Bailey is 35 lbs. When he throws his weight to the other side of the basket quickly you can feel it even with a three wheel trike. Be careful. Make the basket long front to back and narrow side to side so he can't move sideways too far, if possible for a two wheel bike. Similar to this.

It looks like this guy made a four point harness too, I think I can see the cables going under the dog in four places. It also looks like the blue strap on the dog is a harness. Let me know if you want photos of anything.

Good on ya, Bailey. Gives me the urge again to get a trailer with the new bike I want.

That is so fantastic! Newman rides behind me in a closed Burley trailer sometimes.

Do you have any photos? How do you like the trailer? Have you gone a long way?

Check out the other breeds picture gallery for a picture of Newman in the Burlee cart. We had the seat removed and put a little crate-sized dog bed in there. He loves going for bike rides and stays in his "crate" when we go.

I haven't tried Tucker in there yet. He's very skittish and I don't know that he would like it like Noomin does.

I can see why he loves it. Looks very comfortable.

Philbiker - that looks a very good trailer with its protective cover, comfortability and being nicely balanced.

The only problem is no suspension. The tires get 40psi of air and it can be a bumpy ride for Newman. We have a wonderful bike trail right on our neighborhood, so riding is very safe. But there are pavement cracks and the bridges are a bit rough for the poor guy. I think the jostling around would be too much for Tucker, but I may give him a try soon.

The Burley cart is very nice, but the lpastic mag wheels are not so good - one of them has rattly bearings. I may eventually replace the wheels with spoked models.

It's really great the comments I recieve when I'm trailing Newman. I've seen someone else trailering a couple very little dogs like this once on the trail.

If you can stand the extra drag most mtb tires will safely run at 30 psi or less even when not marked that way. I run my Nokian studded tires on my snow bike at 22 - 20 psi. And ride over a lot of ice bumps. Been doing it for years. The bumps would be a problem for Bailey in the trike too. But, I have plenty of places to ride that are smooth. Good thing, I put 90 psi slicks on it to make it easier to pedal. I just slow way down for harsh bumps. The trike is slow anyway.

Forgot to answer your question. We love the trailer other than the aforementioned cheap mag wheels. We usually ride about 10 miles at a time. I'm just starting to ride daily, and it's a lot harder carrying a trailer with a 50 pound dog!
