My Kate has a lipoma tumor
Kate has a lipoma tumor. It is on the inside of her rear leg and it is also on the outside of the same leg. It started with a large lump that came up within a week. At the end of the week, a second one was starting beside the large one. She was limping on that leg. All this is happening very fast!
So, the Vet tried to remove them on Thursday. He could barely remove anything. It wraps around her leg and has infiltrated the entire leg muscle. Basically, there is nothing he can do. All tests came back benign. Now, I think I feel a very hard spot at base of her spine. She does not like when i touch it. I am afraid it is spreading to her lower spine. Anyone have any experience with this? I am scared for her quality of life in the future. |

Thank God it is benigh. These things can grow very large and they will intrude on her ability to walk and run and eventually, stand. So it must be removed by a vet who does surgery. One of my neighbours had a dog who got a benigh lump between her front legs and because she was 13, there was the decision not to bother, Well the dog lived another four years and for the last two her walking etc ability was more greatly handicapped as time went by and the lump continued to grow. My neighbour always regretted not having the lump removed after first discovering it.

She had surgery last week with 19 stitches to prove it. She was badly bruised because the Dr. was trying to find any of the tumor he would be able to remove without nerve damage. It is not as simple as just removing a round lump on the outside of her muscle. I wish it was.
The lump on her back has grown more in the last three days. It is getting bigger by the minute. I am taking her in tomorrow. He did say that very often when it effects a limb, once it becomes stiff and unusable, amputation is an option. But it does not seem to be slow growing or remaining in just the leg. uggggg...... |
