Guess Henry's age: Foster Corgi
This is my new foster pembroke corgi Henry.
I picked him up from the local pound last week. He was due to the Euthanised because nobody came to pick him up. He will need a full renovation before going to a new home. He was very dirty, his teeth are very dirty, his nails are disgustingly long and he has a yeast infection under his arms and in his ears. He is also not desexed. Henry has a lovely personality. He is great with my dogs and is just lapping up the attention and cuddles at my house. My OH has fallen completely in love with this old man. Henry has fallen in love with my pembroke girl Georgia. You can see him following her in some of the piccies. I know he is getting on a bit, but was hoping that I could get some opinions in regards to the age of this little man? ![]() My guess would be 8 or 9. Hard to say without seeing him in person though. How does he act? Does he have stiff joints, limps or anything like that? Peggy

He could be as young as 5-7. Good on you for taking him on. He needs some TLC and some real nice grooming. A pro groomer might be good value for a real good going over and help make him feel very comfortable. He looks a really fine fellow - not a roughy in structure and appearance.
A good knowledgeable vet should be able to tell his approximate age to as close as 0-2 years by looking inside his mouth/at his teeth. Anyway you must take him to a vet to have his teeth and gums cleaned and restored to health. "Dirty' teeth affect internal organs. Last edited by Michael Romanos; 11-06-2007 at 09:19 PM. |

Have you contacted Corgiaid to see if they will help with the cost of getting him in good health? I don't know if they help people in the Australia, but maybe you have an organization like that there. If not, go to their website www.corgiaid.com, and check with them.

Didn't read the 'cloudy eyes.' As Peggy says, it is the first signs of cataracts. It is very possible to treat dogs with cataracts with laser treatment and restore the eyesight to near or actual 100 percent. There are some vets in NZ who can do this. It is fairly expensive of course but very very worthwhile if a dog has still years of good life left.
