Wheel Away Pet Carrier

I recently joined a walking/hiking meetup group to have yet another activity for Charlie and I. Most of the walks are at least 4 miles long, which I think is too much for Charlie (maybe too much for me!) at his age.

Anyway I was looking at ordering one of these pet carriers that you can wear as a backpack, or pull behind on wheels. It also doubles as a car seat and temporary bed. That way if Charlie gets tired, I can just carry or pull him.

Global LARGE Red Pet Wheel-Away : The Pampered Pet Mart

Does anyone own one of these? If so, are you happy with it (size, durability, etc.)?

i think its a great idea! Peanut gets pooped after 2 loops around the neighborhood!
The link suggest dogs up to 15 lbs. Since Peanut and Charlie are around the same age, I have a feeling Charlie will grow out of that rather soon.
Other than that, i love the versatility of the product!

Huh. Looks like they have a typo in the ad. The subtitle says up to 30lbs, and the fine print says up to 15lbs. I found these on Amazon too, but no one has the Large (30lb) size in stock.

Good eyes!

If I had a young pup or a very senior Corgi, I'd get a second hand joggers pram or pushchair for carting the Corgi part of the distance.

A pram or pushchair (called stroller here) would be fine for in town on smooth paved streets and sidewalks. Many of these group walks are "nature trails" with hills, rocky trails, etc. that would not be smooth enough to navigate a stroller over.

Though I don't think this backpack/stroller looks the most comfortable for the dog (compared to a stroller), I do like the idea of being able to carry Charlie on my back through rough terrain.

It is expensive though, so I was hoping to hear from anyone who already owns one before coughing up the bucks. If the dog doesn't like it, there's no point in getting it.

The joggers baby/toddlers stroller is a three wheeler thing with wide tyers (tires) and should be able to quite easily 'motor' over rough, uneven surfaces.

Thats great you want to share your hobbies with Charlie. I ride motorcycles and the thought of a "side-cart" always interest me. But then I think of the reality, and .. well, maybe not a good idea.

However I found this incredible (cannot believe!!!) picture on the forum:

That is a cool picture...doesn't look as safe as a sidecar though!

Peanut would be adorable in a sidecar dressed up like Snoopy as the Red Barron (goggles, cap, and scarf).
