Pembroke Corgis With Tails? - 11-14-2007, 01:12 PM

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if any of you know where to find a Pembroke Welsh Corgi with a long tail? I am getting a Corgi in about a week and a half and she was born with a bob tail. I was thinking about getting a Cardi once my puppy grows up a bit, but then I saw a picture of a Pem with a tail. I didn't even know that they could have long tails. Anyone know where I can find one? Someone told me Austrailia, but I'm having trouble finding a breeder website. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks guys!

You won't find one from a reputable responsible breeder in the US. You'll need to look into importing from either Australia, Finland, Norway, France, etc.

Although there are corgis born with naturally short tails, most are bobbed about three days old? How do you know your pup was born that way? Did the breeder tell you it was? Until I got my Duchess I hadn't a clue that the tails had been shortened by human intervention.

Well now that I think about it I'm not positive that Waeryn's tail was a natural bob, but I think it was. I talked to many many breeders before choosing, so I could be getting it mixed up with another puppy. There were two others, both from different breeders that I almost chose before Waeryn. I'll have to ask her breeder again to be sure.
