Is this something to be concerned about?

I got my Christmas tree on Sunday and it is in a stand with water. Waeryn keeps trying to drink the water from the stand instead of the water that's in her bowl. Is this something to be worried about? I'm worried that there might be some sap or pieces of the tree in the water...and i dont know if that's harmful.

Nothing to worry aboit whatever unless the plant has been fed with plant food and this will get mixed in with the water through the soil. It is normal for a Corgi to want to drink from a planter container.

You'll just have to block off access with lots of boxes of wrapped gifts for her to chew on instead.

Pure water for the tree shouldn't hurt her as long as you haven't added the chemical liquid or powder that's designed to make the tree stay fresh longer. I'd be more concerned about her chomping into an electric string of lights. You'll probably want to try to keep her out from under the tree unless any lights are too high for her to reach.

Also those metallic "icicles" can be very bad if she tries to eat them. Tree decorations in general can look like a whole bounty of puppy toys...but most won't be safe.

Baby gate around the tree???

The tree is going to remain undecorated until just before Christmas. Right now it just has the star on top. I haven't added anything to the water and my boyfriend when up to the mountains and cut down the tree so it sounds like it's safe. Thanks so much guys. I thought it would be ok, I just didn't want to assume. Instead of puppy breath she has pine breath though, haha!
Oh, she tries to chew on one of the lower branches too, but I'm going to keep preventing her from doing this because even if it's safe for her, it's not safe for my tree! =P

If she's chewing on the tree, get some Bitter Apple or Fooey. Spray on the lower branches. It's got a bad taste that might discourage her from chewing.

With the herd here, I have a fresh cute balsam or fraser in the house every year. It's about 8' tall and decorated with glass ornaments. BUT, the lower 2-3 ft of the tree has cloth or soft ornaments that can be knocked off by a tail without being damaged. Mouse traps surround the base of the tree-helps keep the cat out of it and the dogs don't try to drink the water either.
