Calli is improving by leaps and bounds

I just wanted to provide another update on Calli. (If you're not familiar with how I got Calli and her background you can check out my intro thread
http://www.gocorgi.com/forums/hello-...everybody.html )

I have now had 18 month old Callie a little over 6 weeks and as many people said she would, she has improved greatly with her shyness. She now freely runs from the bedroom to the living room and comes out to see me within minutes of when I get home from work. If I leave a room for than a few minutes she comes to see where I am. She doesn't explore around the house on her own that I know of and absolutely has to be on the couch to feel secure, but she now seems very comfortable with her environment and her routine. She still is noise sensitive, but has even gotten a lot better about that.
She is a very affectionate, snuggly girl. She curls up next to or on me all the time.
The best is that I have taken Calli and Zippy the Manchester to a safe private field and they have a wondeful time running around like demons and playing and tackling each other--feeling confident enough to let her off leash (only in a safe environment no where near a road of course) has really been great for her and me. She has even come to the barn with me a few times. It is just such a joy to see her having a good time and interacting with Zippy--they really have turned out to be a good pair and seem to be on the same page when it comes to rough housing and playing
Her housebreaking is also good now as long as I am consistent with getting her out for her walks--the key was finding the area she really prefers to go in---it turns out its a bit far from the house, but it works out fine now that I know that is her preference and she will go there consistently.
So, so far, so good! I'm really proud of this little girl and how she is progressing. Below is a Christmas themed pic we took at the barn--I hope to get some more shots of her playing and such soon! Thanks again for all the encouragement and advice!

Thanks for the update! I'm so happy to hear that she is adjusting so well and so quickly to her first real home and family! Beautiful picture. Keep up the good work!

What a lucky girl Calli is! She knew what she was doing when she insisted on getting back into your lap--even from the beginning, all of her pictures show her smiling! You and Zippy and the horses have done wonders for her.

Your post was good news. So glad to hear she's doing well. I think she'll continue to improve with even more time.

I'm so glad that you rescued her from a... not necessarily idiotic, just "uninformed" family. I find it absolutely adorable that she is opening up to you more and more. I have a feeling that she will always be a little bit quieter than the average, but I also believe that she will blossom into a wonderful dog.
