Maybe I should have named her Jello
My old rescue girl should have been Named Jello she is convinced there is always room for her. I can be laying on the couch with 5 other dogs and she'll jump up and squeeze in as close to me as she can. Same with the recliner chair she'll jump up and lay on who ever is under her. My other dogs and human kids know she is the Princess and they just give in to her whims. She is a big old girl 30lb very small framed pem. (she's not fat she's fluffy) and I sometimes think she is trying to snuff out her compitition when she lays on my other dogs. It often comes down to either they more or she'll suffercate them, not really I never let that happen. I most often gets up and make everyone get off then sit down on the couch so there's more room and I let Foxy up first and the other squeeze in around her. My new rescue boy Jake thinks he maybe jello too, he doesn't sit on the others but he like to sit on my shoulder or lay across my neck if my lap is already taken.
Is this a corgi trait? Do they all think there is always room for them? Sue |

LOL There's always room for Jello!! There is plenty of room for me, Charlie and one of my cats (Tangent) to all sit together in my recliner without Charlie and Tangent touching each other. Instead of staying on "his side" though, Charlie prefers to lay on top of the cat. (Easier to chew on kitty's ears or tail that way.) I think he's making a dominance move to prove Alpha status over Tangent.

Aha! Did you ever stop to think she might be the Alpha in your group?
Our little Molly (aka Hot Ta-Molly) does the same thing--and has ever since we got her at 2 yrs. of age about a year and a half ago. No grumbling, yips, sneers, or anything else--just taking her rightful place in the hierarchy (below me, of course)! My pem Montana does the same thing when I sit on the couch or where ever. She has to sit as close as she can or sleep as close as she can to me. Especially now that I have added a kitten to the mix. If the kitten is sitting on my lap or laying on me Montana will lay on the kitten to make sure she is getting the attention.
Good news is Montana and the kitten get a long great though. I am so relived of that.
