Introducing Fergie!!!! - 01-20-2008, 04:31 PM

Introducing the newest member of out family Fergie!!!!!

Here is a link to her first pictures here...

Byron's and Fergie's first day - a photoset on Flickr

We got her from Tri-State Corgi Rescue in West VA/Maryland. finding her on petfinder.com.

She came up yesterday from Maryland on a truck that brings dogs up from the south. It is quite a thing to see. A link to their web site - Peterson Express Transport Service --> Animal Rescue Road Trips!.

She is a pure breed little girl that is 4 years old. She is fitting in quite well getting along with Byron and our 3 cats...

Many, many, many, thanks to Deb's from Tri-State Corgi Rescue!!!!!! To Deb N. for making this all possible and to Deb W. for bringing Fergie to the drop off point for the ride up here to NH at 2AM.

Congratulations on the new addition! Fergie looks like a very sweet girl. She also looks very well fed! LOL I'm sure Byron and the kitties can get her exercising to become the svelte Corgi she's meant to be. Looking forward to reading stories about your crew!

I checked out the Peterson Transport Service. What a great group of people! I wish there were more businesses like this to help dogs get to their forever homes.
I gave the messages to Club Corgi, which is a forum on Dogster to have them help pass the word around.

Bless you for adopting an adult female who needed a forever home. She looks sweet. Time will tell. Just joking, a friend of mine said her corgi was a sweetheart for a few days and then turned into a terror. She happened to be an adult from the same breeder as Duchess.

What a beauty! She looks FAT!!! Love to see barrel-shaped Corgis, our Tucker is so skinny I sometimes worry about him. Great thing adopting a Corgi, seems amazing that it's almost two years since we adopted Tucker.

Thanks you all for the comments on Fergie.

This have been going quite well - she is fitting in great. She had quite a time at the beach this weekend.

About her weight... When she letft West VA she was 30Lbs. The vet that saw here there said she needed to loose 2 to 3 Lbs. The rescuer said 8 to 10.

She is on 1/4 cup of Natural Balance Reduce Cal and 1/2 cup of green beans twice a day.

Byron has gone on the diet also - a little less that 1/2 cup of Natural Balance Reduce Cal and 1/2 cup of green beans twice a day.

Glad to hear that Fergie's becoming a natural part of the family! I expect the recuer is closer on the weight loss goal. I'm sure Fergie's hips and back will thank you for helping her to become the healthier, slimmer version of herself.

Spring better hurry up! The rest of the group, at least, Lovemycorgi and I are anxious to meet the two newest members of Border Corgis,Fergie and also Colby's sister. Maybe we can try for sometime in March to get together.
I don't know if Colby's sister will be old enough to have had all her puppy shots? We should wait until at least that time to meet.

Thanks for thinking of our little girl....she is having more shots on Feb 11 and then rabies on feb 19th and then she should be good to go....she seems to be recovering from her bout with coccidia, although its been slow going...but we are hoping that in a few more weeks she'll be in tip-top shape..but it hasnt stopped her from being a little hellion and giving Colby a run for his money...i knew i named her after "hockey great and king of the boards", Cam Neely for a reason!!! even if she is technically Jamie's birthday dog as Colby was mine last year....he folded on the name...shes already nicknamed peanut and colby is peanuttier!!!...or fluffernutter works too.....we seem to have a thing for nicknames around here...oh well....we are looking forward to meeting fergie too and seeing everyone else....hurry up spring....hurry up already!!
