Corgi hiccups?

Our 12 week old cardi gets hiccups quite often. It is not only after eating or drinking. He actually woke up this morning and had hiccups before we let him out of the crate. His hiccups seem very hard or forceful, sometimes lasting a few seconds, while other times they can last a few minutes. Has anyone else experienced this issue? We are not really worried about it, but more curious than anything. We do feel bad for Ace when he gets them.

Bless his heart! Just a sign he's growing. Glad to hear things are getting better for you with him. Some of them can be quite independent early on - just keep up the good work laced with lots of patience.

jprechel,

My Cody used to get hiccups. He is now 6 months, and I have not heard
him hiccup for at least 6 weeks now. - I think that is a normal thing.

I'm not recommending this, but it was recommended to me by a vet tech ages ago. Put some sugar in the palm of your hand and let the dog lick it up. Head down and holding its breath while licking up the goodie seems to stop the hiccups. I did that with my first mutt pup and I swear she learned to fake hiccups in order to get the sugar.

Still, for all I know this is not good for Corgis. Anyone have an idea?

Snowdon used to hiccup quite frequently in his younger months (he's a year old now) but I haven't noticed it in the last 2 or 3 months.

Maxi gets the hiccups occasionally he is a year and 3 months. We gently rub the area on his underside where his diaphragm is located and this usually stops the hiccuping. We used to do this with are departed Shih Tzu after I learned that hiccups are generated by your diaphragm.
