SAD! we were so excited for the fawn to start coming in!
he does have some black marking around his nose and mouth, so I'm wondering if that will go away any time soon? or is he destined to look like a little old man?

Awww, he doesn't look like a little old man. He's handsome.

I don't know about the color changes either since Charlie's my first Corgi. My last dog (rottie) was born black/tan, puppy black/tan, adult black/tan, so no surprise there. I love seeing everyone's Corgi pictures from baby to adult, and watching the coat colors change.

I take Charlie in the backyard on his monthly birthday (hopefully on a sunny day) for his "portrait". More than anything, it's to compare his changes each month. It's fun!

Shippo is red. Fawn is a pale red. If Westin has the same color as Shippo he's a red too.

I agree with Chris.

I wonder if Westin and Charlie will change colors anymore as they get older. I've seen quite a few changes in Charlie's coat, but he seems to have been about the same color the last couple of months. He's gone from sable, to deep red, to slightly lighter red with the light sabling consistently staying on his head and tail. I love watching them change.
Puppies start to show their adult colors at about 4 mos. It starts to come in around the eyes and spreads back. Often a strip down the back turns before the rest of the body.

So if your puppies/dogs are over 4 mos. the color they are now is the color they will stay.

Why did you want him to be a fawn?

Most of the black will probably stay. Why do you think it makes him look like an old man? I like the "smutty muzzles". Although his isn't real smutty since he's got white on it too.

A fawn Corgi is still classified in the red group, just very light red.

A sable has black tips at the ends of the red fur.
