During the day...
Is anyone else home with their corgi's during the day?
Our schedule is such that Westin is only home alone for a couple hours a day by himself. We are wondering what other corgi's do during the day, because Westin generally just watches out the window for cars, sleeps and every once in awhile he'll run around and play. |

I get to spend the first part of the day with Vikki, she sleeps in the bed with me so when I wake up she wakes up, now if she gets up thats a different story. She seems to be quite content on laying in her daddys bed.
Once she is up its in order Pet Me time Go outside time Feed me time Pet me some more Let me go outside again Ok enough I am gonna sleep now |

I work from home, so Charlie and I spend every waking and sleeping moment together, aside from me running errands a couple hours per week.
Charlie sleeps in his crate next to my bed. In the morning we play in the backyard for about an hour. He's usually not through stretching his legs when I need to get to work, so he stays outside another 30 minutes or so. (I can watch him from my office window and hear if he starts barking at squirrels or something). Then we try taking a short walk on leash (we are re-learning the leash thing). Throughout the day, he sleeps or chews toys in the recliner behind my desk chair in between going out for several play, training, and walking breaks. Every evening, he becomes my "lap dog". We watch TV, and he gets brushed, checked for any other grooming needs, petted and cuddled (and he babies me with lots of face kisses) before bed. I love having the luxury of being with him most of the time! He's such a great loving companion. He keeps me smiling and provides at least one good chuckle every day.

I work days and my husband works night, so Duncan and Chloe gets the best of both of us. I leave early in the morning after taking them outside for business (Duncan and Chloe are so NOT morning dogs) which means it's really 3 trips in 30 minuts. They get fed, I take my shower, let them out AGAIN and then I leave for work. My husband gets home around 90 minutes later and it's playtime for a while. Husband eats, plays some more and then lays down. He usually gets up in the afternoon/early evening for a little while. They go out and play some and sit with him until I get home after a 12 hour shift. We play for a little while, I give them their night feeding and get ready for bed. It's the weekends they live for because then we both are home pretty much for the next two day and spoil them rotten.

that sounds a lot like what we have, only my boyfriend works days (8am-5pm) and I work nights (3pm-11pm) so he's only alone between 3 and 5.
=D it just seems that when we got him he was always rambunctious and we were always playing with him, and now that he's getting older... he doesn't seem to want to play with us as much! He's content just looking out the window. Has anyone else noticed their puppies "maturing" in this way? |

I WISH i was...but i am home for about 2 hours after jamie leaves and i have to go and he gets home about 1-3 hourrs before me, so they get some alone time with each of us but they are not allowed to be alone together when we are not here as cammie is just still too little, no matter how much of a good big brother colby is.....i also have various weeks off and occasional days for school holidays etc....

Duncan is always ready for action also. It's hard to find a down time for him. On my days off, he pretty much sticks to the same schedule also. The days I'm home and my husband is sleeping, he sleeps under the bed with his "dad" and protecting him. Going as far as to wake my husband up if he has to outside to do business, even though I'm in the next room.
There is only one day that he has both of us at home and awake at the same time and he's constantly wanting to play. With the yucky weather we're having, we're doing a lot of fetch in our house. We have an older home with 3 floors on the bottom level that have a straight shot, so I can toss a toy from the front room all the way into the kitchen for him to chase. His favorite time is during the nice weather where he can be outside all the time while we putter in the yard. He follows my husband everywhere he goes, no matter how many trips he makes from one end of the yard to the next. Chloe just enjoys laying around, she doesn't play much which is why she has an aquarium inside with fish, and her own pond outside with goldfish. She is happy to just watch her fish and protect us from unusual noise or movement outside the house.

Thankfully they don't spend that much time alone. Maybe a few hours a day. Usually they just spread out along the couches, and wait for Mom or Dad to come home. I'm sure they do other things that dogs do when left alone, you know like read Dostoevsky, and discuss philosophy.

*~* I miss having them at my home...
*~* We got Midnight & Sunshine in Nixa, Missouri on October 1st 2005. I only worked Part~Time (4-6 hours a day...but, not every day). I used to walk them TWICE/A/DAY for about 30-45 minutes each time. I would walk them in the morning then again after dinner. We all enjoyed the walks. I played with them alot during the time when I was home. They went with me EVERYDAY in the car to pick up my kids from school. They kept me company when I scooped the poop in the ONE ACRE backyard (I miss the huge backyard ).
All my neighbors would compliment Midnight & Sunshine (and me a little...too) on how, "beautiful & well behaved" they are. They were at a perfect weight and I knew that they were getting plently of attention & excercise. THAT WAS THEN...THIS IS NOW: Now, they live with my children's father (my EX~husband) about 15 minutes away from me. We both live in San Jose, California. Midnight & Sunshine are left alone ALL DAY until about 7 or 7:30PM. They live in a 2100 square foot home with all BAMBOO hardwood floors. It is smaller than my Nixa, Missouri home was but, they have alot of room to play and run around.......I guess ? I supose ? There is a small side yard that Midnight & Sunshine have access to. There is a NON covered redwood deck and some grass that they can relax on. They share the house with another dog and a cat. The dog is a long haired Chiuaua and the cat is a FAT Siamese. I go over and spend time with Midnight & Sunshine on Tuesdays & Thursdays and also take them to a Doggie Park EVERY Saturday (unless it is raining). When we moved BACK to California from Nixa, Missouri...my children's father and I knew that I would only be able to rent a home for awhile and that I would NOT be able to have the girls at my home. SUCKS ! HATE IT ! So, I spend my 2 days off a week with Midnight & Sunshine and almost every Saturday for about 3 HOURS at the Doggie Park with them. ** I plan to someday buy a home with my NEW husband...and have Midnight & Sunshine with me EVERYDAY once again !!! ** *~* Nikki

Ruby is home all alone from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Either my wife or our dog walker walks her at noon for about 15 min. A big event is the mailman coming around 10:30 when she gets crazy. Her job which she takes all too seriously is to guard the house from anything and everything.
She has never complained to me about her daily schedule. |

I have it pretty lucky. I work for my parents as my grandmother's primary caregiver. If its not raining, I take them with me to work. My parents have a fenced acre and they love to play with their 3 year old collie. I made the mistake of taking them on a rainy day once and all 3 dogs were covered head to tail with mud.
I live in what I call a 'frat house' situation... In my house, there is myself, my fiance and four other people, so when I do have to leave them at home, they always have other people around. When my fiance and I leave for work in the morning, they sleep with one of my roommates till Jared (my fiance) gets home and I get home a few hours later. |

Some days I'm home. When I'm not doing something with Pip, he will usually play with his toys on his own or sleep. When I'm at work, he plays with his toys. I pick them up and put them in his toybox before I leave and some of them will be on in the livingroom and bedroom floor when I come home.
