Any corgi back packers - 02-19-2008, 09:05 AM

I just got a little doggie back pack from a friend with french bull dogs.
I talked her into buying it a few months back knowing she wouldn't use it and I would get it for my corgis. I know evil right?
So my bigger guys carry packs when we got to the beach or shopping or even hiking. I figured why not let Jake carry his own pack with maybe a few treats in it. I would never over load him. He is a small guy 20lbs. He's 1 and 1/2 or so. Anyone else have packs for there corgis? Jake can go a mile or 2 we built him up to that. Then he goes in my pack or waggin for a break.
I hate having to leave the corgis behind when we camp, hike, canoe, boat, day at the beach or park. But with those little legs they just can't go like the bigger dogs.

I'll be interested to see where this thread goes....

We've had Byron on some pretty agressive terrain on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine. He did much better than expected. Granted he is a big boy but he was doing some fairly steep pitches ahead of us. One spot I did have to pick him up thought.

I'm not sure I would take him of an above the treeline hike in the White's of NH - but I think he would do fine on most of the Moderate Hikes I have done.

As for the pack, as long as it's not heavy (Water/Food) it shouldn't be a problem

sounds cute and fun, I'm sure they like to be included! lol. Westin would love it if we were active like that! (we are just NOT campers... lol.)

Miller loves to carry my daughters backpack that has her sleeping bag. It is almost like he is prancing around the house with it. I have not taken him outside with one yet. It has been way too cold in Michigan to go anywhere.
