Fluffypants,
I did keep the original strip and put it in a safe place, but you can also just make your own out of any semi-hard plastic encasement; just cut a strip the width of the opening and stick it in there are far as it will go. Or you can cut a strip from something like a business card and use that also. I just ordered the NEW Animal Sounds Babble ball that makes 20 different animal sounds - these are the newer models now ,that you can get replacement batteries. I also ordered a "barking ball" from some other place - My Cody is too spoiled ;he takes these balls and shoves them under sofas and recliners and barks until I get them. I am glad they are sending you a replacement. linda |

Did anyone picture in their mind when they read the original post of what it would look like, a corgi running on a corgi-sized hamster wheel,
lol, it led me to picture my corgi running in a giant plastic hamster ball around the house, lol. Anyway be careful about hiding treats around the house, I don't know how UTAH is bug wise but every spring in Michigan, I get ants and they love dog food. I have to be extra careful about not spilling their food or them losing treats under furniture. I know people who live in the warmer states have problems with cockroaches, regardless of how clean the house is.

I had a serious cockroach problem in the last house I had before shifting just over three years ago. Some one in the street brought a nest full back with them from holidaying about 250 miles away - and these things are not native to NZ - we have one variety that is - but they spread around the street and one or two even set off a burglar alarm in a neighbour's house. However a well pest sprayed house will get rid of these little devils for one to two years. Some are not so little in the USA. When the world is virtually destroyed through nuclear means - the 'roaches will be in their element more so than now and there are trillions of them. They can live for years after having just one meal and their bodies can go flat - talk about flexibility. They are ghastly.

We are in a warm climate and have lots of Cockroaches/Ants which I am able to deter with an Electronic Gadget on the wall that sprays a micro-mist of Natural Pyrethrins every five minutes. (Professional spraying only guaranteed for 3 months and costs a fortune.) This mist permeates through the entire house, cupboards etc, and even kills the very large flying Cockroaches -they resemble Jumbo Jets - that flap in through an open door.
HOWEVER, I soon learnt not to leave any of Abby's treats lying around, as to my horror there was a Mouse in the House.( We have parkland side and back, with a large storm water channel right beside the yard.) Abby had some crumbly rawhide 'puppy bones', the mouse (fat) had a wonderful time before I realised he was living with us, and he had a huge stash of this underneath the Hot Water System in the laundry.Mouse is no longer with us, but every night before bed, any rawhide bones or treats get put into a container, and only the Nylabone left out to deter Abby from chewing the furniture. Mouse must have kept his source of food a secret, because to date there have been no more intruders. |

Having an entire house and the out-houses/ garage etc insect and pest sprayed does not cost an arm and a leg in NZ - it is within the realm of what most people can afford - and one can get lengthy guarantees - at least 12 months. One commercial spraying that was done to my previous home was far too strong - it eventually killed all our beautiful prized goldfish and lasted nearly three years. If I die young, you'll know why.
