Girlfriends and Taffy, the pup
Another Corgi walking afternoon last Saturday followed by coffee at a nearby cafe. Taylor again practically ignored Zara, his very short coated fiancee and constantly foccussed on Holly the young, very fluffy and spayed Pem. That she is spayed didn't stop Taylor and he muscled up to her so much that I had to put him on the lead so I could steer him in the right direction and give Holly breathing space. Anyway, Holly had a good bit of Taylor's licking behind her ears - to take home as a reminder of his love. Hopefully, Zara's turn will come on cue. Zara is a real fun loving tri Pem - she enjoys playing games with every other dog she meets and has a nice respectable kiss and lick for every person.
Maybe Taylor likes his girlfriends well dressed ie long coated. I'm getting Taffy, the wayward Pem puppy next weekend for a two week stay. Taffy has not had the kind of raising through his puppy stages from his owner that he should be getting. And I've got just two weeks to reform Taffy and write down a list of clear instructions for the benefit of his elderly owner. Taffy is six-seven months old. All this talk about crating Corgis. I'll have to borrow an open type one from someone because Taffy has not been house trained properly and he can't stay on the outside of my property in winter and I can't trust him in the house on his own or with Taylor becaue of him possible toileting, and his perchance for chewing things that are furniture. So I either confine him to the conservatory (but I have cane furniture in there which I'm sure Taffy would enjoy getting his teeth into) or the kitchen or in a crate in either options. At the same time he's in for intensive training and playing - play times are something he has not been getting. Taylor and I are off to agility meetings both days next weekend so I plan to have Taffy on Saturday afternoon when I get back home so I can take him wth me to the agility on the Sunday. I'm sure he'll love meeting lots of other dogs at agility. I have an old wooden crate he can utilise at the meeting. I must say that the dogs in agility are better behaved overall than those in the showring. Every training night all the agility dogs scamper around together before and after the training sessions - some of the dogs are world class in agility - yet there has never been any problems. On one occason a Border Collie put Taylor's muzzle in his/her mouth which made Taylor cry out and run off. But that was a little misunderstanding by the Collie on how best to treat little fellows. So agility meetings are good places for socialising dogs- especially Corgis who sometimes can become overawed or overanxious with big dogs. |

You are right, Linda. Match making can have its ups and downs.
I'll keep you posted on how Taffy and us get on. Taylor will have to share some of his toys and though he is not possessive of any of them - another Corgi - and a male at that - stepping into his domain and seizing the items he knows by name, might be a different matter. |
