I'm glad you're feeling better about your decision and I'd be willing to bet those throwing in their 2 cents would be singing a different tune, if was their dog. My cousin's lab is getting to be a pretty old lab. He has always been very active. The live near a lake and he swims several times a week, goes boating, camping, keeps up with a first grader, etc.

I'm glad you and Zero are both feeling and doing better!

Anyway, he's been fine since being on pheno, nothing new. He went camping with me all weekend and enjoyed being a dog
I hope he gets better for you. I've never seen a dog have a seizure, but it must be frightening. As for the people offering their unasked for advice, would they withhold medication from their children if it would make them feel better. I assume these same people themselves wouldn't take insulin if they needed it- I guess I would have asked them that.

Zero is still doing fine. He's down to one pill 2x a day.

As for his vet... well, I'm dating his vet so things usually go smoothly without much disagreement! *I'm the boss* LOL

Hurray!

That's what they say about Cody and I. They say that I wear the pants. I say, no, mine just fit better

It is. I finally figured that out when all my friends were vets and I was engaged to a grease monkey helicopter mechanic! He made the money but didn't understand me or my critters AT ALL. Note: Never date someone your dog doesn't like.

It was funny, I told my mom when I was 13 that I'd probably end up with a pilot or veterinarian... lol...

Both are big parts of my family- travel and vet med so I thought it made sense!

I have a feeling Zero is going to be a destructo-corgi on phenobarb... it's an appetite enhancer and dogs have been known to eat things they shouldn't if they dont have any food. I now have to lock Jordi's kennel so Zero doesn't get into his left over food. He licks empty dog dishes, chews his paws (his nails, not paws themselves) and started getting into the trash! Bad dog... he got into the bathroom trash and all that was in it was his hair from me brushing him and stuffing from a dog bed Jordi killed. Brat.

Just as a warning.........It really is amazing how much their appetite increases.

My shepherd ate a kitchen towel that I had used to wipe my hands on when cooking some chicken. We didn't even know he had done this until a trip to the vet and x-rays showed he had pretty much eaten it whole. A portion of it had to be surgically removed. He would of never taken that towel if he wasn't on the pheno.

Yep, that has started. He's chewing his nails now that he can't get into garbage cans. He licks the dishes all the time and carries his food dish around looking pathetic.

Aw Gizmo did that, but not on the medication. Do you think giving him a few smaller meals throughout the day would help? I hope everything gets better.

Pip is an obsessive licker. When he can't lick me, he licks his paws. He doesn't do any damage to them, but it DRIVES ME CRAZY. After my dog with demodex, I just cannot stand a dog chewing/licking itself obsessively. Once or twice, it has gotten on my nerves so bad, I put some Bitter Apple on a cotton ball and wiped it onto his feet to make him to stop. Not sure if that's okay or a bad thing to do to a dog. If his licking gets bad, maybe you could look into detterents. Other than that and his appetite, sounds like he's doing well!

We did this to our old corgix she was just obsessive with licking. It stopped her.
