I would imagine that a baby fox and a baby Pem would look decidedly similar and without doubt, older Pems are "fox like." Even the colouring of a fox is similar to a red coated Pem with bits of white. And those erect ears and longish narrow muzzle of a Pem is very foxy But the eyes are different - a fox has less character in its eyes and they are not as wide eyed as a Corgi.

Honestly, I saw a fox running through our neighborhood the other day; and
we are in the outer city limits and because of new house expansion in what was once farm fields, animals are losing their homes. Anyway, I had to take a double look because I thought it was a dog - so I can see how someone not familiar with Corgis may think that at first. linda |

HaHa...love the posts on this...When I tell people that we are getting a Corgi...they look at me funny and say "I've never heard of that"...so in my description, I mention the long bodies and the short legs...and the first response is "OH! Like a weiner dog!" NO NO NO!!! Not like that at all!!!! It's more like a German Shepard with cut off legs..haha!!

Recognition of Corgis - or rather, the lack of it in the USA - never ceases to amuse me. Its probably the only breed of dog in New Zealand that the ordinary man and woman in the streets will identify the breed by its name more often than any other. So when Taylor walks around in public a lot of people will say something like "oh there's a Corgi." It's nice to know that so many people are Corgi-conscious

Great stories guys!
![]() We have also experienced people wanting to know what kind of dog Ace was. We have gotten dachsund, beagle, mini german shepard, and mix. When we say Cardigan Welsh Corgi, many people say "What?" Or others will ask if he's a corgi but not know there are two different breeds of corgi. Once someone asked if Ace was part wolf because of his big pointed ears! We enjoy exposing people to his breed and the more they see us and recognize him the more they're interested. |

my daughter tonight was telling a new friend on the phone that she had a Corgi named Cody. I could tell that this person had no idea what a Corgi was so my daughter goes "picture this; a fat weiner dog" - I made her give a better description!

Jeff and I have seen quite a few corgis here in midtown Atlanta. I used to live in the suburbs of Atlanta where I never saw even one corgi. The breed seems to be fairly well known in Midtown though (more money and more condos I suppose). Great stories guys...nice for a chuckle!
