Hello all
I have yet to visit a breeder. They all seem to be busy with shows. I contacted the one in St Louis but she was not available the weekend we were there. Maybe it's a sign. |

I'm sure there are more. We are in Elkhart IN, about 6 hours from there. We were visiting my sister. I heard about her from someone that has one of her dogs. I'm thinking I may just look closer to home. I'm just getting anxious. I even have a name picked out. finnegan. Fin for short. When I find him I hope it fits him..........LOL

I don't mind. Thanks. We already have a female english bulldog, so I will be looking at males. Which is what I prefer. Rita is my husbands dog. |

The best places to look for reputable breeders is at dog show, or on club web sites.
PWCCA - Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America, Inc. - Breeder Referral PWCCA - Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America, Inc. - Local Pembroke Welsh Corgi Clubs If you're going to buy a puppy, then go for one that has parents that have their health testing. Ask questions of the breeder and the breeder should ask you questions. (And not just if you can pay the price they're asking.) If you like the look of the dog your friend has, then wait for the breeder to get back from the shows and contact her. She may be able to refer you to someone closer to you too. Peggy

Thanks Peggy. Come to find out she isn't really breeding much anymore. But I can ask her about other breeders. There is a few in Michigan. If it works out we will see one on Monday. I believe it is Royalwood, owner Jon Clapp. Anyone know them?

I thought you were looking for a Pembroke. They have Cardigans. Says they had Pems at one time but I don't see any on their site. Peggy

Hi Peggy.....I started out looking at the pembrokes and then started looking into the cardis. I like the looks of the pems but most of what I have read and heard from people about the cardigan is more of what I want as far as personailty and temperament.
I see pembrokes from time to time and I had 2 that came into the shop for grooming, sweet dogs, but I have only seen a cardigan once. At least I think it was. It had the coloring but without the tail. Thanks for the links. And the comment on the breeder. |

By the way, just an FYI, when you go to a reputable breeder they should tell you WHY a puppy is or is not a show prospect.
I explain why I'm placing a certain puppy as a pet and requiring it be altered. If the breeder cannot say why a puppy should be a show propect or not chances are they don't show their dog and don't know the standard. And IMO, if they don't know the standard and the assets and faults of thier own dogs they should not be breeding. Peggy
