You've done a good deed. Good job. The dog will appreciate getting another chance, believe me. I adopted my Reba as an 8 yr old rescue through a local corgi rescue. I received a brief background on her, it was an owner surrender because the owners were elderly, NOT abuse or a lost pet, thank goodness. I've had her 4 years and she's the best dog I've ever had. I've heard the same story from other people who rescued dogs. The dogs know, and thank you in their own ways. I now have a 6 month old corgi also.
As for the baby's name, how about Jazzy (for Jazz music)? or how about Mello (depending on the pups temperament)? Though lulabye is a sweet name. My Reba was named by the breeder "Sweet Sounds of Reba" so I'm guessing after Reba MacIntyre. They probably named the whole litter country western names. I had a hard time naming our pup. I wanted Jaime, my son in law wanted T Bone, finally ended up with Jesse. It just sounded right. I thought Kujo, just for fun, because my pup is totally mello so it would be a contradiction, but I stuck with Jesse. Good luck. |

Hi everyone. She is working out pretty good. She is housebroke but still pee on the floor some. She is getting along with my other dogs ok. She growls at my little ones when she has food or they are too close to her. I have try to get some good pictures of her without us in them but she like to be right next to us. She is a older dog but she still had to get spay. She is doing very well after the surgery and was walking around the yard no problem. I had to help her up the stairs the first day. My husband and dad like her too.

Sounds like she is doing very well and charming everyone!
Even if one is 100% reliable in being house broken at my house, I always tell a new home there may be an accident or two just because they need to figure out which door to go to in their new home to show they need to go out for business. Also I would suggest keeping her and the other dogs separate during feeding time. Corgis are not known to be especially sharing where food is involved. The best defense and prevention for food fights, is a good offense and keep them separated at meal times. Last week I was a bit busy and didn't keep up with this thread. I applaud your adoption of an older corgi. I did the same and I don't regret taking in a seven year old Pembroke female. I didn't see if you told us just how old DoeRay is?
