Linda
- or a a rabbit hopping by, or a cat, or low flying bird, or.... it make me shutter when I see a leash free dog in an inappropraite situation.

I think it is the ultimate ego thing for a dog handler. Trying to prove that the dog is listening no matter what the situation. The price of an error in that scenario though, is to the cost of the dog.

Oh no, I will never walk Darwin without a leash on the streets. No matter how well trained or disciplined he is. The only time he is off the leash is in an enclosed area where there is no escape. When I take him to use the bathroom just outside my house, I still put him on a leash, and will continue to. Thanks for pointing that out.

Darwin, you are a lucky fellow to have a dog mum that is keeping you so very safe.
