Perfect Camera - 07-24-2006, 10:37 AM

First off, I had no idea where to post this and it isn't directly corgi-related, but anywho--So, after seeing everyone's great pictures online, I've decided that I need to purchase a better digital camera to take pictures of Dudley growing up. I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations of cameras they really like or things to look for in a good camera.

Jeni

We are currently looking at a new one for ourselves and there are soooo many to choose from - I would take any input also. I don't want a camera
where the instructional manuel is thicker than the camera either.

I am actually buying a digi camera for our daughter tomorrow - as a 20th birthday gift...The choices certainly run the gamet - depending on what sort of photography you would like to do. My little Kodak does a nice job for snapshot type photos but our older daughter has a Canon Rebel ESO that takes art quality photographs!! I am looking at megapixels and zoom as well as ease of operation for the younger daughter - and a reasonable price!! WalMart has several for less than $200 that are quite appealing. My suggestion is to handle several - some are small enough to fit into a pocket!! See what features interest you and then find a knowledgable clerk to assist!! Good luck! We will be anxious to see your new photos here!!

I have a Minolta Dimage, but it was a pkg with my iMac. I had heard that the Kodak Easy Share are easy to use.

Some of the featutres I was looking for were speed, I wanted to take action shots of the dogs, jumping etc. And short video clips, for the Musical Canine Freestyle. I know if you want to print out photos you need a high pixel count.

Adding a bigger memory card (not cheap) is pretty well a must, so I'd take that into account as well when pricing them out.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing your pictures.

And anything non corgi? It could be put into the Forum..."The Lounge" if you like. The Moderator would be the person to move this post for you.

I have a Canon Powershot S1. It is 3.2 Megapix but as I was researching I found that since I am not planning to blow up to very large pictures there was no need to get the extra pix. I have blown up a few 8x10 and have NO complaints. I love my camara. I also had a Kodak but was not fond of it. I had a lot of blurry pictures and using the motion setting was always blurry. I hated it. My sister also has one and is very dissatisfied with the delay. Heres a new one of a rest after a hard 2 hours of play. He sat still a whole 3 minutes!

Great pics!!
After some serious research and the thought of never wanting to look at another camera review again, I think I'm going to go with the Canon Powershot A620...of course, I'm not 100% sure so I'll probably change my mind a million times before I finally decide

Looks like a nice camara. Although not sure how big the book will be HEHE! Make sure to buy the Energizer e2 lithium batteries. I was going through batteries VERY quickly and then I thought I would try those and I am so happy I did. You get what you pay for with those. I swear every time I took my camara out I went through 4 AA batteries. Now I have used 8 batteries in like 5 months. Just a little side note!

I recently saw a clip on the news comparing digital cameras and most of the Canon Powersots came off as good buys. I have the Powershot S45 - it's a couple of years old and I like having a rechargeable battery.

We just got our digital camera today from Circuit City - we went with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 with 6.0 mega pixels. It has a rechargeable battery also. We actually were looking at a Canon model which was $50 more, but the guy said that this camera we got was actually a better one, so at least he was honest and wasn't just steering us to the other one for the money. Suppose to also take good "fast action" pictures which I need for my
kids sports.

Now I just have to figure out how to work it.

Linda
Let me know how it goes with the new camera. That is actually one of the types I was looking at too, and if it can save me 50 dollars, I'm all for it

Jeni,

I will let you know - after I figure it out -like I said we were looking at a Canon model and I can't remember which one, but with the one we bought he told us it would perform better and it costs less. He said it was one of their most popular models. I hope it proves to be true.

Hubby bought me a new camera for my birthday - Pentax Optio A10 SR - very small I can put it in my cloth coin holder as a camera bag! This is the easiest digital I've ever tried - everything is well thought out and easy to understand. It has a charger and a 3x Optical zoom and 8.0 megapixels.
Hubby says it was $299 & rebate from Circuit City...

I added a new picture on my photos of Leah on the beach so you could see how it does in bright light - somehow messed up the early morning picture = the one I wanted to show you is on My profile and somehow I added a blurry picture to my Members Gallery!!!! does anyone know how to remove a picture?????
