I guess we could update it if we read the date of the post, and add the current date to it. This does not pertain to this thread per say, but I will mention it here, as you have mentioned again that a particular topic has already been discussed. All in all, the topics of posts are bound to be repeated. There are many things to discuss, and as new members join, as myself, the posts that you talked about before me, well they are still relevent. I can't imagine someone joining next week, and not being encouraged to talk about their ideas and interests. In fact, those of us here right now, have figured out & learned so many things from each other already, that down the road when someone new comes along and asks for help, we may well have the answer for them.

Dudley will be six months very soon. Wow! How time flies!
As a side note, I agree with CorgiMum. Posts will inevitably be duplicated. I don't know how many times I have seen someone, especially a newbie, pose a question and be told to search the archives for the answer. This is discouraging, especially for those who aren't technology savvy, and those new to the site who could easily be warded off by this suggestion. Not to mention, no matter how many times a topic has been addressed in another thread, each dog is different with potentially different circumstances. |

If I were just joining today and were told to look in the archives for answers to a particular question, I would probably be a bit turned off by that and would probably not return.
All newbies will have questions and many may be repeats of what we have already discussed, but like Jeni said, each dog is different and their circumstances will be different. Just like when you may watch a movie for the 2nd or 3rd time, one tends to maybe pick up something they did not initially see. Linda |

*~* { kidding... } It is very comforting to know that when you are NEW...that people on the message board that you are posting in are approachable, respectful & polite. I would be very insecure and would LEAVE if anyone told me that I should have known that my thread that I started....was already existing and I should have known that fact. (just generalizing here...) MY OPINION: I feel that we have the responsibility to ALL new posters to make them feel like anything that they need to ask, address or comment on...is acceptable. (did I word that right...I hope I did..) WE were ALL NEW ONCE !! *~* Nikki

Totally agree with making new folks feel welcome by answering their (often redundant) questions. In addition to being head-over-heels for my boy Trevor (and my Siamese cats!) I am also an avid cyclist, both road and mountain. In the past I have participated in cycling forums, and you would not believe how rude some of those people could be towards newbies asking for advice on bike fit, equipment, etc. Yes, it's almost silly for an experienced cyclist to tackle a question like "what's the best bike" (hint, there is no one best bike) but to just tell someone "look it up in the archives", well, in some instances, you could just see the fire being put out in someone who was just getting stoked over riding their bike. So I think it's important for those with more experience in some areas to step up and answer that often basic question that someone has asked. After all, we were all newbies once upon a time...
