Taylor's sister - 08-12-2006, 09:02 PM

Thought I might share this edited version of what Shelley Bondy, owner of Raglan Pembroke Corgi Kennels in Canada sent me yesterday. Shelley owns a full litter sister to my three year old Taylor. Her name is Gypsy and Shelley has other New Zealand-bred Corgis.

We're leaving tomorrow to go on a week of dog shows about 10 hours from where we live. I'm showing Gypsy's daughter, Magic who is a very pretty red head tri. I kept two daughters from Gypsy and Satan's (Satan is a son out of Gambler who is another NZ Merthyr Corgi) litter last May. The other daughter, Chubbin, finished very quickly to get champion status (she is red and white) and took a few puppy groups and group placings. She doesn't miss the show ring too much. Magic loves to show and demands all the attention.

Taylor looks like a very nice boy. I like his head. Gypsy's personality is very sweet - the sweetest Corgi I have ever owned. But don't make her angry. She's the dominant girl of the house. She just looks at the other dogs and they obey her. I am thinking of enrolling her in dog therapy classes to be able to go into nursing homes and hospitals. She would be great. We have her in our grooming shop every day as a mascot and she loves everyone that comes in and she is friendly towards the dogs to be groomed. She knows they are going home in a short while and won't interfere in her domain. She's the best Corgi I've had to listen and obey. She really wants to please me. I would like to do obedience competition with her next spring. She's a Canadian Champion (Conformation) and took a few group placings in her show career. She was a little slow to mature but she is lovely now. Her movement is to die for. It's absolutely great. Her front end was a bit tight when she was younger but it is come right with age. If she is gaiting correctly, I have to jog to keep up to her.

Did Taylor mature slowly as well. I want to breed Gypsy to Gambler in her next season. I have yet to have a true Merthyr dog. Lesley Chalmers ( Taylor and Gypsy's NZ breeder) is coming to judge at a show about one hour from my home in Jan, 2007.

I wasn't surprised that Deb (Jespah) was turned down by Imagine That Kennels. A few Corgi people in the USA can be somewhat snobby. We only live about one hour from the border but I don't know many Amnerican breeders.

What a small (Corgi) world Michael.

I was looking at the website of Ragland Kennels, curious as I am from Ontario. Anyways..I saw Texanda Kennels, Montrose & our Thomas (now at The Bridge) were both breed by the Moultons. I saw all the connecting sires and dams.

I can 'see' my girl in the photo of Bandit.

Texanda's Montrose: Texanda's Canadian Made & Texanda's Boxcare Willie.

Taylor, your sister Gypsy is a lovely looking girl.

Shelley has some lovely Pems and if you can relate yours to one of hers, you're doing ok.

Actually Michael, I was thinking of it the other way round.

And yes, she does have some lovely dogs.

I am on Shelly's list for a puppy to be born the end of November. I will keep my name on the list until I know whether Jemma is going to work out. I really wish Shelly had some pups now, as I would have loved to have had a Taylor relative
