*~* Okay, well...I never let my BABIES sleep in my bed with me....so, why is it okay for the Corgi ?

"they" say (who are "they"...anyway ?) that you should never allow your children to sleep in your marital bed...so, WHY DO WE ALLOW OUR DOGS
to join us in sweet slumber ??

I am guilty....

of

Cuddling with Corgi(s) !!

There was a NZ-wide survey done on dogs and their owners and a large number of people had their dogs sleeping on - or in - their beds - sharing their beds at sleeping time. I did an article on the results of the survey and one person I telephoned ( a prominent breeder) had three Labradors sleeping on the bed with her and hubby. I ask you where was the room for the humans after that hefty lot got on board. And where was there any room for things that husbands and wives sometimes do? Not in that bed anyway.

None of my Corgis have ever slept on my bed but Taylor has on my youngest son's bed and my previous Corgi did sleep sometimes on my older son's bed when he was a little chap. Couches are out as well for the Corgis but Taylor does soemtimes jumps up on a chair next to the casual dining table and sits down hoping for a plate of something.

Cody, does not sleep with us, because we already have 2 cats on the bed at
night. With my previous Pem, whenever my husband was out of town on travel, then she got to sleep with me. I ran into a lady at my vets office with her 150 pound st. Bernard and she told me that he slept in their queen size bed - I would have thought he would have had his own twin size bed.

As for the furniture, Cody is allowed to go on it, he prefers a big comfy recliner for when he gets his kong filled with frozen yogurt, but otherwise prefers the back of the sofa for napping and looking out the window.

Chip sleeps with us every night. When it is bedtime, I will carry him to bed and he will back up until his body is touching me and then go to sleep. Digger used to have his own pillow at the top of mine and I would reach up and touch him in the night. Chip - I always know when he is on the bed because he sleeps so tight to me. He is allowed on all the furniture but in the evening, he mostly will sleep on top of his carrier so that he can see me in case I get up. Scenario - He asks to get on the sofa, waits until I move the coffee table over so he can walk onto it, hops onto the top of his crate (soft sided) and sleep. Periodically, he will open his eyes to make sure that I am still there.

Tucker sleeps on the bed with me. And almost always has to have something touching me. I never thought I'd get used to it but I have. The good news is that as he has grown older, he snores less! He is a bed hog, he usually gets on the bed before I get into bed and claims the whole middle. So needless to say, when I move him my spot is warmed!

Evry now and then (not coinciding with warm spells interestingly enough....) he decides to sleep off the bed in his own bed or crate. Just decides on his own he'd rather be off the bed.

Lulu is still sleeping in her crate (3 months old) for the whole potty training thing. Every now and then I think about bringing her onto the bed to snuggle before she falls asleep but so far have managed to not do it! Discipline!

My older corgi sheds ALOT, all year long, particularly if it's hot. No way would I have her on the bed (or furniture). She knows her place is the floor, her crate, or her rattan basket.
