Electric Windows

Everyone probably already knows this but I thought it was worth a mention. Last night, after obedience class, Chip climbed on my lap as soon as we left the parking lot and stuck his nose out the window. Normally, we have the window lock on but this time we didn't and he stepped on the button and raised the window. As the window was only down about 2 inches, he pinched his nose. We almost wrecked when it happened but we got his nose out of a jam and learned a good lesson. No worse for wear, it just scared him as he has never gotten hurt before.

Yes they can, and that is why they should be secure in a moving vehicle.

Chip's Mom, sorry to be a downer, but I have a friend that had her dog hit the windshield, very, very hard when her husband had to break fast.

Years ago our oldest corgi girl was riding uncrated or secure with hubby (time to bring out the rolled newspaper ). She was stepping on the electric window button and rolling the window down on the passenger side. He learned his lesson.

Jackie has a hammock that keeps her in the backseat, but she can move around back there. And she LOVES to roll the windows down! We have them locked all the time, but it also locks the passenger side window, so I have to ask hubby to unlock so I can roll my window down. And Jackie seems to know when the windows are unlocked, because she goes right for them! The way the controls are in our car, she can only roll them down . . . you have to be able to LIFT to roll them up . . . so we don't have to worry about pinched noses. But I am afraid she will try to jump out, even though they only roll down halfway, so that's why we lock 'em.

So glad you didn't wreck, Chip's Mom! (and Chip!)

Jessica,
You mentioned a backseat hammock? Would you discribe that and a source for purchasing it. It sounds like what I have been looking for. The " doggy"car seats would be confining for Duchess. It is the first time I have heard of a hammock.

Drs. Foster & Smith (yes, them again! )

www.drsfostersmith.com

also good for protecting the car seats!!!

It secures to the headrests of the front seats, and also to the ones for the back seats . . . so it comes down the back of the back seat, across the seat of the back seat, and up the back of the front seat . . . makes kind of a u-shape. You have to see it to understand, I think. Check out the site.

Back in 1970 I had a high school teacher with a scar near his mouth. He said he was in a car accident where his head was thrown partially out the driver window and his arm accidentally pushed the window button and it came up and pinched his lip really hard partially cutting through it before he put it down. Must have hurt terribly. This is a good reminder for us to click that window lock mechanism.

i don't have that problem....cuz my car is ancient(1964)and doesn't have power....anything, so bella is all good riding in the backseat...but she doesn't like sitting on the seat, she would rather be curled up in a ball on the floor behind my seat...shes a silly girl

i have been worried about that myself, but in my car, the window button needs to be pulled up for the window to go up so the worst thing she can do is lower the window. I guess I got quite lucky by selecting my car years ago.

When Emma was a young girl she and Hubby would have what I called their mis-adventures - once they went fishing and Em thougt she could walk on water... but that's another mis-adventure...

this one is not a window story but - they went down to the local 7/11 to pick up a few things, Hubby went inside and left Emma in the truck. When he came out she was smiling looking out from his door window - he couldn't open the door because her paws had hit the door lock!
So....miles from home, doors locked, truck running, dog smiling, no cell phone - I was home and did have a 2nd set of keys and saved the day again! after I made him squirm a bit...

T-Gal .......... You have made my day, that is so funny, I can visualise it exactly, the smiling dog and the sheepish husband. And the walking on water episode has my imagination running riot!

T-Gal,

I thought the same thing - quite funny, but surely not for you at the time. I
bet hubby's heart was racing a bit when he realized he would have to call you
and tell you what happened.

Stumpy - you say you drive a 1964 car- that's pretty old alright. What make and model is it - what's its mileage.
I've got two old cars but they are both in the 1990s. One is a red FTO sports car ( my other pride and joy) which Taylor seldom gets to ride in bcause it has mainly black seat covering and it is not the car for Corgi hairs. The FTO has only done 55,000km (less that 40,000 miles).

My goodness, how lucky that your husbands' & Emma's misadventure had a happy ending!

If someone where were to leave an unlocked vehicle with the engine running, it would be stolen. Fast. Having a sweet corgi inside would be the extra special prize.

Is that why do you think that the clever little lady locked the door?
