My Fargo hasn't quite got the names down pat completely, but my parents have 2 goldens who are almost freaky about this. They know the whole family. You can say "Where's Jake?" and they will turn there heads and just look as if saying "right there!"..Or if they hear that someone will be home shortly, they will go and start watching out the window until they arrive. It's amazing how smart dogs can be!

There are only 2 of us (besides Jackie) in our family, and she knows us both. (as mommy & daddy, though . . . I am one of "those"
)

Cody would do that also - last spring, and he was only about 6 months old, it was like he could sense when the bus would drop my daughter off from school. He would go into the living room and get up on the sofa and be looking out the window. I just find it so smart how they know us by name and when I say "where's Jerry", Cody will just stare right at him and then take off running towards him for a big leap.
And Jessica, I am Cody's mamma, but I don't let the neighbors hear me say that.. |

Checkers is quite adapt at this... in fact we turned it into a game. Because he loves to get anything he can into his mouth I will be sitting in the living room and give him a piece of mail, a magazine, etc and tell him "take it to Daddy" and he will run give it to my husband in the office. The hardest part is training my husband to notice him and take the object... otherwise Checkers will just come back to me with said object still in his mouth and a confused look on his face.

The short answer is YES. Taylor knows the names of a lot of people - not just his immediate family members. And he knows the names of all sorts of things, dozens and dozens of them.

*~* Linda, I am totally seeing this same trait in BOTH Midnight & Sunshine !!! Every morning...when my alarm clock goes off...I say out loud, "Okay, let's go get Sara up ! " I am not even outta the bedroom yet...and both my girls are running down the hall and then they turn RIGHT towards Sara's room ! I have also asked my children questions in front of Midnight & Sunshine. I will address my children by their name. I will say, "Kyle,_____________________________" and Midnight will look over at Kyle !! Before Kyle even answers ! Midnight seems to be the leader...in acknowledging my children INDEPENDANTLLY. Linda, YES...our Corgis are smart ! *~* Nikki
