Dooley, My little man.
As I was reading all the wonderful stories about how people came up with their dogs name, it was good to find out that I wasn't the only one having problems. My family has always waited till they got what ever the animal was at the time to see what their personality would be before they produced a name. We had a dachsund and her litter were named after Gun Smoke charatchers. But all the good names were taken so we named her Pink Petti Coat Patty. Patty was what we named her cause at my Moms house we had hardwood floors throughout and you could hear her patting around the house.
But getting a corgi was different. I had wanted one for so long and this was to be MY dog. I searched all over the web for names and meanings. It was going to be Bailey for a long time until one night I was serching the web and I looked up Welsh names for the hunderenth time and the name Dooley just popped out at me. I screamed it out in the house and my husband came running and was like, What is wrong? The feeling I had was just of happiness and excitement. I knew then that is what I would name him. And his name just fits him perfect, because he is the happiness and excitement in my life. |

I must say, I LOVE the name Dooley
![]() Deb(GlenCorgi) In regards to all those great names , I am assuming you had a list in front of you or were you just remembering all those names from the top of your head?? If so, your memory is much better than mine is. Last edited by corgimom; 08-21-2006 at 11:13 AM. |

My guy Rupert is from the great British cartoon character Rupert Bear (for all you Yanks - he's been around longer than Mickey Mouse). Corgis don't have tails so they have little bear bottoms.
Riley was because it had to be a name that did not sound like any of the cats so she would know it when she heard it. I had a couple in mind for her, but when I saw her, she was Riley. I always told her she was "living the life of Riley" Jemma was a hard one for me. I kept coming up with names that sounded too much like Riley. I wanted a Welsh or English name and Jemma is old English for little dove. If I had got a male he would have been Paddington - so he and Rupe would have the same last name - Bear. The Cats are: Ella Fitzgerald - my favourite singer Kenya - had just come home from Africa when I got him Triston - he has three legs so he needed "tri" in his name Sprint - rescued him from the engine of a Chevy Sprint Tucker - have no clue - I met him and called him Tucker instantly and out of the blue
